Greetings from sunny Ludwigshafen. This week's edition comes to you from the banks of the Rhine, and I'm missing out on a beer to get this typed up.
The weekend was largely dominated by the League Cup where the only 'cupset' was provided by Slough Town, who saw of Premier League Woodley by a goal to nil. Only two league games took place. Abingdon United Development inflicted another home defat on Oxford City Development whilst AFC Varsity and Farnham Town scored 10 second half goals between them with the visitors running out 8-4 winners.

Results - Sunday 2nd November 2025

Oxford City Development 0-3 Abingdon United Development
After a surprise defeat to Chesham, Abingdon got back to winning ways, inflicting Oxford's fourth straight home defeat in the process. April England, Beth Hawtin and Jessica Exell were on the mark for United.

AFC Varsity 4-8 Farnham Town
Farnham made it five wins from five league games in an extraordinary game at Hatches Farm. An Iesha Swaby goal, cancelled out by Sofia Ryan had the sides level at the break. Then both teams went goal crazy. Kayleigh Mackay put AFC in front but that was quickly levelled by Nicole Leys. Swaby then grabbed a second to put Town ahead. Sofia Ryan and Emily Foss then exchanged goals to leave it a 3-4, before Mackay equalised again. Then Town took control with four goals in 10 minutes. Rebecca Price scoring twice, Rachael Manley once, and Iesha Swaby securing yet another hat-trick. Watch the Town goals on their X feed.

Badshot Lea 0-4 AFC Portchester
Two goals in each half eased Portchester through to the next round. Sophie Bell got them off to a great start in the 6th minute. Charmaine True added a second before the half-hour. Then Layla Morgan on 57 and Lauren Aitken on 78, rounded off the scoring.

Beaconsfield Town 6-1 Chesham United Development
Comprehensive from The Rams. An early Freya Harris goal got them started. Evie Bloxham-Phillips and Henna Hussain them made it 3-0. Shortly after the break Ruby Slade pulled a goal back, but Hussain added her second to restore the three goal lead. Katie Riddington added a fifth before Bloxham-Phillips notched her second to make it six.

Denham United 2-3 Winchester City Flyers
Flyers took control of this game before the break. Chelsie Hay on 18 minutes, Shayne Prasad three minutes later and Hay again, just after half and hour, had the visitors three to the good at half-time. Wycombe Wanderers 6-0 Oxford City
The BotP match of the day saw Wanderers display their top of the table credentials. Goals from Ellen Wardlaw, direct from a corner, Jordanne Hoesli-Atkins, from the spot, Kayla Potter and Chloe Melton saw The Chairgirls go off 4-0 up at the break. Another penalty, dispatched by Ailish Carolan and Chloe Melton's second, wrapped up the scoring. Read the match blog here (Dominant Wanderers Sink City). Just once place and two points separates 7th placed Portchester from their visitors, one spot below them. However, Portchester have two games in hand. This is a repeat of the final game of last season when Portchester were 2-1 winners. Portchy also won the reverse fixture by the same score.
Venue: AFC Portchester Womens

Badshot Lea v Southampton Women
The Baggies remain bottom of the league after their draw with Woodley in their last league outing. The Sirens sit second, a point behind Wycombe and two clear of Winchester. However, they have played more games than their closest rivals. This will be only their second away league game but they are defending a 100% record on the road.
Westfield Lane, Wrecclesham GU10 4PF

Oxford City v Fleet Town
The Hoops will be looking to bounce back to form after their League Cup defeat to Wycombe on Sunday. Fleet, meanwhile, edged past Wimborne on penalties after a 1-1 draw. They've already won twice on the road, but City won their only other home league game.
Marsh Lane, OX3 0NQ

Woodley United v Beaconsfield Town
United picked up their first point in their last league game. They've only played three prior to this one and will be looking to get their season going. The Rams have been up and down so far, winning three and losing three of their opening six games.
UofR Bulmershe Pavilion, RG5 3HE
Picture
Larkspur Rovers v Chesham United Development
A mid-table battle as sixth takes on seventh. Rovers have a two point advantage on their visitors and have played three fewer games. Chesham won their last league game, 1-0 at Abingdon. However, Larkspur won the reverse fixture 5-2 back in early September.
Venue: Larkspur Rovers Ladies

Oxford City Development v Ascot United Reserves
City have already played 10 league games this season. Ascot have played three and are yet to win. This will be City's fifth home league game on the bounce. They have lost the last four, including last Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Abingdon. Ascot have only played one game since their home defeat to the same team in mid-September.
Venue: Oxford City Women & Girls Development

Penn & Tylers Green v Slough Town
Slough travel to Penn in the knowledge that their away form is better than their home form. In fact, all of their six points have come away from Arbor Park. Penn have only played three league games, but they are defending a 100% record. The teams met in the county cup a few weeks back, Penn edging it 2-1 at French School Meadow
French School Meadow, HP10 8LG
Picture
AFC Stoneham v Wimborne Town
The Magpies make the trip to Stoneham still looking for their first point of the season, with four games played. Stoneham have a 100% home league record but have lost three of their last four in all competitions, including a 3-1 League Cup exit at Andover last weekend.
Stoneham Lane Football Complex, S)16 2PA

Bemerton Heath Harlequins v Shaftesbury
Shaftesbury are another team looking for their first point, and their first league goal. This will only be the second home league game of the season form Quins, who won their only other home game.
Western Way, Salisbury, SP2 9DR

Bournemouth Sports Reserves v Andover New Street
With third placed Guernsey taking on leaders Farnham Town, Andover will see this one as an opportunity to either consolidate second or even return to the top. Sports have been far more productive on their travels this season and are yet to take all three points at home.
Chapel Gate, BH23 6BL

Guernsey v Farnham Town
Third facing up to the leaders. Farnham take their 100% league record to the Channel Islands hoping to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat last weekend. Guernsey have not yet been beaten on their own turf and have shred 22 goals in three matches at home. As Farnham have already scored 19 in their three away games, expect goals in this one.
Victoria Avenue, Guernsey, GY2 4BB

Havant & Waterlooville v AFC Varsity
The Hawks occupy fourth spot currently, three points adrift of the leaders but having played a game more. Both sides went out of the League Cup at home last weekend. Varsity lost 8-4 at home to Farnham whilst Havant were beaten 2-1 by Farnborough. Havant won the corresponding fixture 6-0 last season.
Westleigh Park, Havant PO9 5TH
Picture
Abingdon United Development v Tilehurst Panthers
A repeat of the opening league game of the season, which took place at Scours Lane. Tilehurst will want to forget that one though, going down 7-0. On the plus side, they've won every league outing since that day.
The Northcourt, OX14 1PL

Bursledon v Farnborough
Farnborough won at Havant to progress to this round whereas Bursledon received a bye in Round One.  either have been in sparkling leaguer form, so a cup run could be exactly what's needed.
Priory Park, Bishops Waltham, SO32 1SQ

Reading v Kidlington Youth
With just a single point in the league, Kidlington could probably do without a visit to a Premier League side in the cup. They'll need to be on their game against a Reading side who won their last outing, 2-1 against Sholing, and put up an excellent fight against National League Ascot in the County Cup, eventually bowing out to a 1-0 score line.

Dominant Wanderers Sink City

Picture
This Sunday I decided to make the short journey down the M40 to Burnham, my old stomping ground from 25 years ago when I lived in neighbouring Taplow. The game in question was an all Southern Region Premier League, League Cup tie between Wycombe Wanderers and Oxford City. The hosts have started the season like a house on fire. A 100% record in the league with 25 goals scored in four games, through to the next round of the County Cup and only narrowly beaten on penalties by higher-ranked Bridgwater United in the FA Cup. Today's opponents, Oxford City, have been sluggish in comparison, winning one and drawing two of their league games. However, they too had progressed in the County Cup (even though it was by a walkover) and, more to the point, had made it through to Round Two of the FA Cup after a 4-2 home defeat of high-flying South West Premier side, Sherborne Town.

PictureIt wasn't all Wycombe
Wycombe were at the races from the very first minute in this game, yet it was Oxford's Ellie White who struck the first shot in anger, firing wide of the mark in the 8th minute. Three minutes later, Wycombe had the ball in the City net. Kayla Potter got a toe to a through ball, beating Hannah Gerrow to it and poking it to Chloe Melton, who applied the finishing touch from an offside position. No goal.
The home disappointment was short-lived however. With 13 minutes on the clock Ellen Wardlaw's right-wing corner somehow evaded everyone, nestling into the far corner. 1-0. City tried to respond through Yasmin Edwards, but her shot was wide of the mark.
Wycombe could have increased their lead on 19 minutes when Kayla Potter delightfully cushioned a through ball with her head but could only send her shot straight at Gerrow. Again the disappointment was brief. Three minutes later Potter latched onto another through ball before being bundled over inside the area. Penalty! Jordanne Hoesli-Atkins took the responsibility, converting low to Gerrow's right. 2-0
Just past the half-hour Oxford generated their best opportunity of the half. Edwards created the break with a burst down the right. She squared for Ellie, who saw her shot well blocked by Sophie Harvey. Emily Harris could only hit the rebound straight back at Courlander, and the chance was gone.
With eight minutes remining in the first-half, Kayla Potter won a header some 30 yards out, ran on to her own flick-on and, beating Gerrow to the ball, poked it past the keeper into the net. 3-0. Already three goals up and looking good to progress, Wycombe then hit Oxford with a late fourth goal a minute into added time. Potter evaded the offside trap on the left, drove past a covering defender and laid the ball back to the edge of the box where Chloe Melton met it first time, guiding the ball into the top corner. What a classy finish! 4-0

HT Wycombe Wanderers 4 Oxford City 0. A dominant display from the hosts. Their movement, speed and accuracy in the final third proving to be too much for City.

PictureHoesli-Atkins scores from the spot
With the tie already as good as decided, the second half was never going to such a spectacle. However, it started just as the first-half had finished, with a Wycombe goal. Only two minutes had passed when Chloe Melton got to a loose, bouncing ball in the box a split second before the defender, resulting in the striker taking a sore one for the team but winning them a second penalty. Ailish Carolan was on duty for this one, but the result was the same. 5-0 and a first goal of the season for the defender.
Ten minutes in, Kayla Potter planted a header just wide but, after that, the chances for Wycombe dried up somewhat, as they took their foot off the gas a little. That said, they were still keeping things tight at the back and, despite the industry of the Oxford midfield and forward line, the Hoops couldn't find a way through the home defence.
Then, with 17 minutes of normal time remaining, it was six. Laura Hennessy's right-wing corner volleyed in at the far post by Chloe Melton. 6-0. Oxford continued to work hard and, as a neutral, it would have been good to see them get a consolation. However, aside from a long-distance lob from Katherine Parsons, that went well wide, and a shot from Yasmin Edwards that flew across the face of goal, they didn't really stress Axelle Courlander.

FT Wycombe Wanderers 6 Oxford City 0. The game was effectively over by half-time. An extremely professional performance from Wycombe. City are no pushover and continued to battle throughout the game. However, they were no match for The Chairgirls on the day. To be fair, not many teams are going to be able to contain Wycombe this season.

Wycombe Wanderers: 25. Courlander, 3.Harvey, 6.Lynch(c), 5.Beaver, 14.Kern, 8.Hennessy, 16.Hoesli-Atkins, 12.Carolan, 17.Wardlaw, 10.Potter, 9.Melton. Subs: Mulvaney, Hill, MacDiarmid, Baker

SoReg Review (25/26) - Edition 10 - Two For Two

29/10/2025

Once again the FA Cup took centre stage last Sunday. It was a mixed bag as far as Southern Region interests go, but two teams safely made it through to Round Two. AFC Portchester and Oxford City will be flying the SoReg flag in the next round.
This weekend the main focus of attention id the League Cup which features some interesting ties. One of the most intriguing is Denham United, top of Division One North and yet to drop a point, taking on high-flying Premier League side Winchester City Flyers.

Results - Sunday 26th October 2025

Picture
Southampton Women 2-1 Beaconsfield Town
The Sirens jumped four places in the table to sit in second place, one point behind the leaders having played two extra games. The game was goalless at the break, but soon after the restart Chloe Ball put the home side in front. With just under twenty minutes to go, Scarlett Kirby helped herself to a debut goal to put Southampton two to the good. Molly Carter then set up a nervy finish when she pulled one back for The Rams with just under ten left.

Reading 2-1 Sholing
Reading moved into fourth spot and maintained a 100% home record. Keren Banduka opened the scoring in the 26th minute, pouncing after Nat Cowell's effort was saved. The roles were reversed in the 56th minute when Banduka set up Cowell to make it 2-0. Ella Wilson pulled a goal back for Sholing in the 81st minute, but they couldn't find an equaliser. Read the match report courtesy of The Tilehurst End.

Woodley United 1-1 Badshot Lea
A first point of the season for both teams as the bottom two fought out a draw that did neither of them any favours. Megan Giles scored her first Woodley goal, Ellie Gill notched the Badshot Lea goal. The draw doesn't really help either team and they still occupy the bottom two spots in the table, Woodley outside the relegation zone on goal difference. Andy Wicks was there to capture the match action.
Picture
Denham United 6-0 Larkspur Rovers
Teams are having a devil of a time trying to stop Denham this season, and it was a case of 6-6-6 for United on Sunday. Six games, six wins and a six-nil victory. Sofia Harris, Rebecca Horwood and Lauren Cox sent Denham into the break three goals to the good. Harris then hit her second, and sixth of the season, before Daisy Baranowski and Annie Hewitt also got their names up in lights. Denham now have a three point gap at the top.

Milton United P-P Abingdon United Development

Oxford City Development 1-3 Slough Town
A third straight home defeat for Oxford even after going in front in this game. They found themselves 2-1 down at the break thanks to Slough goals from Maddi Armstrong and Emma Green. In the second half, Green scored her second and Slough's third, to wrap up the points.

Penn & Tylers Green 5-0 Kidlington Youth
Incredibly, this was Penn's first home league game of the season and only their third overall. This result sees them secure a 100% record and leaves the winless Greens in the drop zone. Ellie Lovelock was the star of the show, hitting four goals to take her season's tally to double-figures. Tara Woodward was also on the mark, to also grab her tenth of the season. Listen to Penn manager Dan Gray's post-match comments and watch all the goals.

Tilehurst Panthers P-P Chesham United Development
Picture
AFC Varsity 0-0 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
A rarity. This was the first goalless draw across all three divisions this season. The result has no effect on either team's league position. Quins in seventh and Varsity one place and three points back, with a game in hand.

Andover New Street 4-0 Shaftesbury

New Street bounced back from last week's home defeat to Guernsey, leapfrogging four teams to take over at the top of the league. For a team with zero points and zero league goals, Shaftesbury put up a solid defence in the first half, only trailing 1-0 at the break, to a last-minute Ruby Allen goal. However, Allen completed her hat-trick in the second half. Charli Wright added the other goal in her first appearance of the season.

Bursledon 2-2 Guernsey
The Green Lionesses maintained their unbeaten start to the season, but were knocked off top spot following this point gained at Toynbee School. Bursledon started the game in fine form, racing into a two goal lead before the quarter-hour. However Calleigh Hedley, with her 16th goal of the season and 40th goal for the club in 21 games, reduced the deficit after 23 minutes. Jess Frampton then equalised in the 78th minute, her first goal of the season.
Picture
Havant & Waterlooville 1-2 Farnborough
Goals from Kelly Rutledge and Ellie Stalley saw Farnborough through to the second round of the League Cup. Jodie Burchell scored for The Hawks, but it was not enough. Farnborough now face a trip to Bursledon in Round Two.
Picture
AFC Portchester 6-2 Gloucester City
A Rebecca Bath hat-trick helped Portchester to book a place in the Second Round of the FA Cup. Sarah Butterworth helped herself to two goal and two assists, with Sophie Bell also getting on the scoresheet for Portchy, her first of the season. Amanda Reimer had earlier levelled things at 1-1 for Gloucester but, by the time Sachi Kaneko-Grun scored for City, Portchester were already well in front. Portchester now face a home tie with National League South-East side Worthing in Round Two.

Bowers & Pitsea 3-2 Wimborne Town
The Magpies gave their higher-ranked opposition a big fright in this First Round tie. Ruby Kilden edged the hosts in front after 39 minutes, but Eillie Chaffe levelled it just before the break. Kilden then put Bowers back in front after 88 minutes, only for Emilie Regnart to get Wimborne level again four minutes into added time. Penalties were looming before Olivia Harris popped up in the 96th minute to break Town hearts.
Bowers have been drawn at home to Sutton United in Round Two.

Farnham Town 0-8 Leyton Orient
After seven wins on the bounce, Farnham were brought back to earth by their higher-placed visitors. Orient took the lead through Lucy Porter's 7th minute strike. Sammy Rowland added a second midway through the half. The killer blows were struck right on the stroke of half-time, first through Kallie Balfour and then Wiktoria Fronc, making it 0-4. Soon after the restart Porter hit her second. Sammy Rowland then added two more to claim a hat-trick before Porter also sealed her hat-trick with a 77th minute goal. Leyton Orient's reward is a home tie with AFC Bournemouth.

Oxford City 4-2 Sherborne Town

City's first appearance in the First Round for 15 years got off to a great start when Yasmin Edwards put them ahead in the 2nd minute. Kate Parsons doubled the lead on 20 minutes, but Sherborne immediately hit back through Immy Miller. Ellie White, crucially, restored the two goa lead in first-half added time. Charlotte Harmer then pulled Town back into it after 76 minutes, before Amy Leach sealed the win in the 95th minute.
A massive game awaits The Hoops in Round Two, as they welcome National League South-West Swindon Town to Marsh Lane.

Winchester City Flyers 0-4 Gwalia United
Despite the eventual score line, Flyers more than held their own against higher-placed opposition, especially in the first half. However, they failed to take their opportunities and trailed to  Tia Asker goal at the break. United took until the 73rd minute to get a second goal, when Ellie-Mai Sandford netted. The final two goals, from Manon Pearce and Eliza Collie, both came in added time. Read the Gwalia United match report here and get the Winchester point of view here. You can also hear Emma Pearmine's post-match comments.
Gwalia will travel to Plymouth Argyle in Round Two.

Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 (p6-7) Bridgwater United
Penalty heartbreak for Wanderers after holding National League Bridgwater to aa draw in normal time. The Chairgirls went ahead through Jess Watkins, in the 26th minute. Abbie Carslake got United level eight minutes later, which is how the score stayed. Bridgwater then edged the shootout 7-6 to earn a home tie with Royston Town. Listen to the post-match comments from Bridgewater's Steve Perkins. You can also watch the excellent Bridgewater match day video.

Fixtures - Sunday 2nd November 2025

Picture
Oxford City Development v Abingdon United Development
After three straight home defeats, City will be looking to get back to winning ways with the visit of second placed Abingdon. United lost last time out, going down 1-0 at Chesham. However, a win on Sunday could put them level with leaders Denham. A win for City would see them draw level on points with their visitors.
Venue: Oxford City Women & Girls Development

Tilehurst Panthers v Kidlington Youth
Kidlington are still looking for their first win of the season and are currently in the relegation zone on goal difference. Panthers have started well, winning four of their opening five games, and are sitting third. This fixture, last season, ended 7-1 to Panthers with Georgia Hayes grabbing a hat-trick for Tilehurst. The reverse fixture ended 6-3 to Panthers. So, no shortage of goals when these two meet.
Rivermoor Stadium, Scours Lane, RG30 6AY
Picture
Andover New Street v AFC Stoneham
The new league leaders welcome fifth placed AFC Stoneham to town on Sunday in the League Cup. Stoneham currently sit in fifth place, but it's a very congested table and The Purps are only three points back, with two games in hand. They have not yet met in the league this season. Stoneham received a bye at this stage last season, going out to Havant in Round Two.
Foxcotte Park, Andover, SP11 0TA

Badshot Lea v AFC Portchester
The Baggies finally picked up their first league point last weekend. Now they have the tough task of taking on Portchester i the League Cup. Portchy won 3-0 at The Operatix earlier in the season, with second half goals from Gemma Hillier and brace from Lauren Aitken. The Baggies fell at this stage last season, losing 5-3 to Fleet. Portchy made it to he semi-final, where they lost to eventual winners Ascot United.
Operatix Community Ground, Wrecclesham, GU10 4PF

Beaconsfield Town v Chesham United Development
Something of a local derby between Premier League Rams and Division One North Chesham. Whilst the Rams to lost to Southampton at the weekend, United had their game postponed. Beaconsfield did the double over United on their way to the league title last season, being awarded the points in the away game and winning 4-1 at home.
Holloways Park, Beaconsfield, HP9 2SE

Denham United v Winchester City Flyers
This could be a fascinating tie. Denham have been flying in the league tis season, especially at home. They'll relish the challenge of Premier League Winchester coming to The Den. United only went out of the FA Cup on penalties at another Premier League team. Oxford City, after a 3-3 draw. Flyers have also been in good form, winning every league game since their opening day defeat at Portchester.
The Den, UB9 4DW

Farnham Town H-W Bemerton Heath Harlequins

Fleet Town v Wimborne Town
On their way to promotion last season, Fleet did the double over Wimborne, winning 5-0 at the Wyatt Homes Stadium and 4-1 at home. Last season in the League Cup, The Magpies fell at the first hurdle against Premier League Portchester. Fleet made it to he Quarter-Final before losing 4-0 to Sholing.
Crookham Road, Fleet GU51 5FA

Penn & Tylers Green v Bournemouth Sports Reserves
Both of these sides went out quite early on in last year's competition. Sports were beaten 6-3 at home by Milton United in Round One. Penn made it to the second round before succumbing to Premier League team Wycombe Wanderers.
French School Meadow, HP10 8LG

Shaftesbury v Larkspur Rovers
Some light relief for Shaftesbury as they step away from their league woes. Their only goals so far this season have come in cup games, three against Dorchester and one against Wimborne, both in the FA Cup. Rovers have had a pretty good start to their league campaign, winning three and losing two of the opening five.
Coppice Street, SP7 8PD

Sholing v Southampton Women
Last season's beaten semi-finalists Sholing, who lost 3-1 to Winchester, take on The Sirens in a south coast derby. They've already met at Test Park in the league this season. Southampton came out on top that day, winning 3-1 after trailing at the break.
The Mortgage Decisions Stadium, SO19 9PW

Arbour Park, Slough, SL2 5AY

Wycombe Wanderers v Oxford City
A tough task for City as they travel to a Wanderers side riding high in the league with a 100% record. They met in the second game of the season with The Chairgirls coming out victorious by 3-0. In lats season's competition, City went out to Sholing in the first round. Wycombe made it to the quarter-final stage before losing to AFC Portchester.

With rain lashing down across the country, two of the newly promoted teams were making a splash in more ways than one on Sunday. Denham United, with a 100% record, sit proudly atop Division One North. Unbeaten Guernsey also had top spot for a while, following their early kick-off victory at Andover. They were then overtaken by another new team, Farnham Town, who also boast a 100% record.
In the carious County Cup competitions there were wins for Wycombe Wanderers Pen & Tylers Green, Kidlington Youth, Bemerton Heath Harlequins, Winchester City Flyers and AFC Varsity. Farnborough, Woodley United and Oxford City also progressed through byes.

Results - Sunday 19th October

Picture
Badshot Lea 1-4 Sholing
Sholing won away from home for the first time this season, consigning Badshot Lea to their sixth defeat on the bounce. Siena Millen and Sophie Lee had the Boatwomen two up at the break. The Baggies responded just past the hour mark, but another Sophie Lee goal on 82 minutes and an Emily Surridge strike five minutes later, sealed the deal for Sholing.

Southampton Women 2-2 AFC Portchester
Portchester fought back from behind twice to earn a point at Test Park. Jessica Soares got the Sirens off to a great start, putting them in front after just two minutes. Lucy Nightingale levelled the scores just before the half-hour mark. However, Southampton restored their advantage through Chloe Ball in first-half added time. Portchester snatched a point when Rebecca Bath equalised with five minutes remaining.
Picture
Chesham United Development 1-0 Abingdon United Development
After two defeats without scoring, Chesham sprung something of a surprise on the league leaders. Ruby Slade scored the only goal after 80 minutes, helping the home side to a mid-table position and toppling Abingdon from top spot.

Oxford City Development 1-7 Denham United
City will be glad to see the back of Denham this season after conceding a total of sixteen goals in two games against the new league leaders. Niamh Cashin helped herself to a hat-trick, making it five for the season against Oxford. Sofia Harris scored twice with Pia Davis and Brogan Moore also weighing in. Megan Fillary scored her sixth of the season for City as a small consolation.
Picture
Farnham Town 4-2 AFC Stoneham
The Purps lost their unbeaten start but Farnham continued their 100% start, making it seven in all competitions. Town had to come from behind after Stoneham took the lead after just six minutes. Iesha Swaby levelled the scores on the half-hour. Four minutes later a Swaby penalty was saved, leaving the teams level at the break. Swaby them made up for it, scoring just after the restart. Emily Foss made it 3-1 on 70 minutes and Rebecca Price sealed the points three minutes later. Stoneham got a late reply, but the points stayed in Surrey. Stoneham goals were scored by Lucy Bicknell and Chloe Marshall.

Andover New Street 1-3 Guernsey
This was planned to be the BotP game of the weekend. However, due to a few logistical issues at my end, I missed a fair bit of the action. And what a lot of action there was! Way too much to detail here, but you can read the match report on the Guernsey web site. In brief, Freya Twigg put New Street ahead. Alice Seddon was sent off, Emily Evans saved a penalty and Calleigh Hedley claimed a hat-trick, taking her total to 15 for the season. Watch Hedley's first goal on the Guernsey X feed.

Havant & Waterlooville 4-3 Bursledon
This fixture produces goals. Eight last season and seven this time. The Hawks went in front after ten minutes through an own goal but the Dons levelled after 24 minutes. Two minutes later they were in front, and stayed that way until just before the hour. Emma-Jane May the equalised for Havant before Bursledon went back in front with 22 minutes to go. Emily Wernham levelled things again in the 77th minute before Jodie Burchell popped up with the winner with a minute to go.
Picture
Beaconsfield Town 0-2 New Bradwell St Peter
A Cara Brooker goal early in the first half and a Sapphire Roman goal with four minutes remaining were enough to take The Petes through to the next round of the County Cup. Check out some action shots from the game courtesy of the Beaconsfield web site.

Newport Pagnell Town 0-2 Wycombe Wanderers
Despite the one step gap between the clubs, Newport Pagnell gave their higher-ranked opponents a real game. Wycombe, who have been flying all season, needed an Anisha Hill goal in first-half injury time to take the lead. Hill then grabbed a second early in the second half. Watch the goals on the Wycombe X feed.

Penn & Tylers Green 2-1 Slough Town
Heartbreak for Slough as a very late Tara Woodward goal sends Penn through to the next round. Sara Harrison had given the home side the lead, but former Woodley United and Reading striker Sajunae Turner levelled the scores.

Kidlington Youth 4-2 East Oxford
Without a win in the league, Kidlington bagged themselves a much needed County Cup victory against their Thames Valley neighbours. Olivia Ward, with two goals, led the way. Courtney Sumner and Isobel Rushmere hit the other two for the Greens. Perri Termine and Melissa Webby were on target for East Oxford.

Melksham Town 0-6 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
It took Harlequins 44 minutes to break the deadlock, Kyra Ward sending them into the break a goal to the good. Charlotte Eastman made it two shortly after the restart. Caitlin Lower then scored twice in eight minutes after the hour, before Hollie Keating also grabbed two goals in the last 10 minutes.

Bournemouth Sports Reserves 0-1 Winchester City Flyers
A third consecutive clean sheet for Winchester as they edged past Bournemouth Sports Reserves. Sian Wylie's first goal for the club settled the deal just before the half-hour. You can watch the goal on the Flyers' X stream.

Fleet Town 2-4 AFC Varsity
Varsity came back from a goal down at the break to claim a higher division scalp. Kayleigh Mackay levelled the scores a minute into the second half. Bethany Ebert scored on the hour mark and, six minutes later, Katie Finn added Varsity's third. Mackay rounded off the scoring for the visitors in the 76th minute.

Fixtures - Sunday 26th October

Picture
Southampton Women v Beaconsfield Town (ko 13:00)
After five games only a single point separates Beaconsfield, in third, from sixth placed Southampton. With the top two both in FA Cup action, it's an opportunity to close the gap at the top. For Beaconsfield, a win would take them level on points with the leaders, for Southampton, three points would also take them into second spot but a point back.
Redbridge Community School, Southampton, SO16 9RJ

Reading v Sholing
The sides currently sit seventh and eighth respectively, separated purely by goal difference, although Reading have three games in hand on the Boatwomen. Having not played since the early-October FA Cup defeat to Brentford, Reading will be coming into the game very fresh. Sholing, meanwhile, clocked up a morale-boosting 4-1 at Badshot Lea last Sunday.
Arbour Park, Slough, SL2 5AY

Woodley United v Badshot Lea
Two sides both in urgent need of getting points on the board. Neither have yet managed to secure a league point, although The Baggies have already played six games and Woodley have only played two. Last season both encounters went the way of United, winning 4-2 at Bulmershe and 3-2 at The Operatix. Out of the eight scorers of those eleven goals last season, only one player is still playing for either club, Badshot's Alyssa Hall.
UofR Bulmershe Pavilion, RG5 3HE
Picture
Denham United v Larkspur Rovers
Nine points from their first four games signifies a really good start for Rovers. However, they face a very tough test as they travel to The Den to take on a Denham side flying high with  100% league record after five games. United have scored 34 goals in these five games, conceding just five along the way.
The Den, Oxford Road, UB9 4DW

Milton United v Abingdon United Development

Abingdon lost top spot at the weekend after being beaten by Chesham United Development. Milton, meanwhile, have only played two league games so far, losing both. Last season this fixture ended in a 7-5 away win for Abingdon, despite Milton being 4-2 up at half-time.
Venue: Milton United Women

Oxford City Development v Slough Town
Slough were unlucky to go down to a very late goal at Penn on Sunday. City lost heavily to leaguer leaders Denham. Both will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend. Slough are still looking for their first league victory but have picked up all of their points. so far, on their travels. City won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in September.
Venue: Oxford City Women & Girls Development

Penn & Tylers Green v Kidlington Youth
A replay of the last league game last term. Kidlington won that one 2-1 despite having Kiera Isaac red-carded. Penn have won both of their league games so far, Kidlington are yet to register a win in the league.
French School Meadow, HP10 8LG

Tilehurst Panthers v Chesham United Development
Panthers currently sit third but, just as last season, it's their away form that has got them there. They are currently 100% on the road whilst winning one and losing one at home. Chesham had a good 1-0 win over Abingdon last Sunday and will be on the lookout for back-to-back victories. Tilehurst win this fixture 3-2 last season, coming from 2-1 down with two late Leah Why goals.
Rivermoor Stadium, Tilehurst, RG30 6AY
Picture
AFC Varsity v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Three points separate Varsity, in eight, from Harlequins in seventh. However, Varsity have a game in hand on their visitors. A win for Harlequins could lift them as high as fourth spot.
Hatches Farm Sports Ground, Romey. SO51 6EA

Andover New Street v Shaftesbury
Shaftesbury travel to Foxcotte Park still in search of their first points and first league goal of the season. After going through last season unbeaten, it's been a tough start for the Dorset team. It won't get any easier on Sunday against a New Street team that gave Guernsey a real game on Sunday, despite playing well over half the game with 10 players.
Foxcotte Park, Andover, SP11 0TA

Bursledon v Guernsey
The Green Lionesses are still unbeaten in the league, having won three and drawn three so far. In Calleigh Hedley they have a striker who has already scored 15 goals this season. However, they have also conceded plenty, despite currently sitting second. Bursledon are looking for their second win of the season. They were a little unfortunate to go down 4-3 at Havant & Waterlooville on Sunday, conceding a very late winner after leading twice.
Priory Park, Bishops Waltham, SO32 1SQ
Picture
Havant & Waterlooville v Farnborough
Since promotion from the Hampshire League, Farnborough have won two and lost two of their league games so far. They did not play at the weekend, progressing in the County Cup via a bye from Nursling & Shirley. The Hawks edged past Bursledon with a late Jodie Burchell strike.
Westleigh Park, Havant, PO9 5TH
Picture
AFC Portchester v Gloucester City
Gloucester City disposed of AFC Stoneham in the 3rd qualifying round with a 2-0 win at Stoneham Lane, whilst Portchester ran riot against Weymouth. A great test for Portchy, taking on a team from the division above them. In the league City have lost one and won one
Venue: AFC Portchester

Bowers & Pitsea v Wimborne Town
A long journey and a tough test for The Magpies as they travel to Essex to take on Eastern Region Premier side Bowers & Pitsea. Bowers currently sit third in their league, three points shy of leaders Stevenage.
Len Salmon Stadium, Basildon, SS13 2BE

Farnham Town v Leyton Orient
Greater London Premier league leaders Leyton Orient have an extremely impressive 100% record so far this season. They have won all six games they've played, scored 71 goals and conceded zero. However, Farnham are also defending a 100% record in all competitions. They've played seven and won seven, scoring 42 and conceding six. This promises to be a cracking cup tie.
Memorial Ground, Farnham, GU9 7DY

Oxford City v Sherborne Town
Currently sitting second in the South West Premier, Sherborne travel to Oxford on the back of three consecutive victories in all competitions, including a 5-1 at Bitton in the last round. By their high standards, City have had a slow start to their league season, winning just one of their first four games. They did, however, earn a very good point at Portchester last time out.
Marsh Lane, OX3 0NQ

Winchester City Flyers v Gwalia United
A very interesting test for Flyers, who currently occupy second spot in the Premier League. They welcome Women's National Southern Premier outfit Gwalia to The Charters Stadium. United are in mid-table having won three of their seven outings, two of which came on the road.
Hiller Way, Winchester SO23 7SU

Wycombe Wanderers v Bridgwater United
A real opportunity for Premier league leaders Wycombe to measure their progress against a team currently sitting fourth in the league above them. United put out Southern Division side Bursledon in the last round and were 3-0 winners at least season's Premier League champions, Ascot United, two weeks ago. The Chairgirls have won every game they've played so far this season. Can they keep the momentum going?

SoReg Review (25/26) - Edition 8 - Worrying Times

15/10/2025

This weekend it was activities off the pitch that caused the most concern. Following the very sad news that Nursling & Shirley had resigned from the league, there were also two more postponements due to player availability. Of course, it's that time of year. The staggered half-term break is kicking in and there's always the possibility of player shortage at this time. However, both other postponements were involving teams that have already had to do similar in previous weeks. Let's hope it is just a temporary player shortage. It would be awful to see other teams dropping out of the league.
On the pitch, there was no game for Premier leaders Wycombe. Winchester moved into second spot with a 2-0 defeat of Beaconsfield. In the North, Abingdon remain top after a win at Kidlington, but Denham and Tilehurst are hot on their heals. Stoneham's draw at Guernsey, in the South, sends them to the top of the pile on goal difference. Shaftesbury and Wimborne are now anchored to the bottom after Nursling & Shirley's withdrawal.

RESULTS Sunday 12th October 2025

Picture
AFC Portchester 2-2 Oxford City
Captain Georgina Tayman put the visitors in front after 15 minutes. However, a Mia Adaway goal saw Portchy level at the break. The sides shared another two goals in the second half, Ellie White for Oxford and Millie Bradbury for Portchester, leaving the teams to share the spoils. Massive congratulations to Portchy goalscorer Mia Adaway who earned a call-up to the Gibraltar squad for the forthcoming international against Andorra.

Badshot Lea 0-4 Fleet Town

Fleet took themselves up to fourth spot with a solid away win in Wrecclesham. Two goals from Layla Drury with additions from Keira Simpson and Emily Hulford-Funnell saw Fleet claim their second away win of the season. The Baggies remain rooted to the bottom the table, still looking for their first point.

Southampton Women 3-1 Sholing
Sholing took the lead in this game, three minutes into first-half added time through Sophie Elmes. However, three goals in seven second half minutes from Lucy Mear, Chloe Tedman and Eliska Lynn, saw The Sirens claim all three points.

Winchester City Flyers 2-0 Beaconsfield Town
Flyers moved into second spot with this win. Chelsie Hay had them in front shortly before half-time, but they had to wait until 10 minutes into added time in the second half before Annie Northwood sealed the points. Read the match report on the Winchester web site. You can also listen to the views of Beaconsfield boss Brian Harris post-match.

Woodley United P-P Reading
Picture
Denham United 8-0 Chesham United Development
Four wins from four now for newly-promoted Denham and, what's more, the goal count is showing no sign of tailing off. Eight more on Sunday means they have now clocked up 23 in 3 league games at The Den. Brogan Moore hit her second hat-trick of the season. Niamh Cashin, Sofia Harris, Alketa Rragami, Daisy Baranowski and Rebecca Horwood added to the total.

Farnborough 2-1 Ascot United Reserves
Ascot are still looking for their first three-pointer of the season after falling to defeat at Farnborough, who kept up their home pattern of lose one, win one. Borough required two second half goals to take the points through Laura Quinn-Low and Ellie Stalley, whose winner came deep into added time.

Kidlington Youth 1-2 Abingdon United Development
Abingdon retained their place at the top of Division One North but were forced to work hard and come from behind to earn the three points. Courtney Sumner put The Greens ahead from the spot after Kiera Isaac was fouled in the 6th minute. Captain Beth Hawtin leveled in the 20th minute after being set up by former Milton United player April England. Another former Milton player, Jessica Exell grabbed the winner, running on to Anaya Grey's perfect 64th minute through ball. Read the BotP match blog here (United Getting The Winning Habit)

Oxford City Development 1-2 Tilehurst Panthers
Panthers are up to third after this win, level on points with both Denham and Oxford City, three points adrift of top spot with a game in hand. Two more goals for Leah Why, both inside the first 45 minutes, taking her season tally to nine. Poppy Gorman scored for City.

Penn & Tylers Green P-P Milton United

Slough Town 0-2 Larkspur Rovers
Two second half goals from top scorer Savana Fearon secured the points for Rovers, who now sit fourth, six points off top spot with two games in hand. Slough remain ninth two points clear of the drop zone, but having played more games than the teams below them.
Picture
AFC Varsity 0-1 Havant & Waterlooville
The Hawks maintained the 100% away league record through a solitary first-half goal from Emma-Jane May. That's seven for the season now for the Havant captain. It was a second home league defeat of the season for Varsity, who are yet to be beaten on the road in the league.

Bournemouth Sports Reserves P-P Nursling & Shirley
Wishing everyone involved at Nursling & Shirley all the best after they resigned from the league.

Bursledon 1-5 Andover New Street
New Street leapt into second spot, level on points with leaders Stoneham, with a resounding victory at Priory Park. Olivia Payne led the way for the visitors, clocking up four goals, making it eight for the season. Captain Keira Smith was also on the scoresheet as the visitors kept the pressure on at the top. Kirby Anderson hit a consolation goal on the hour mark for The Dons.

Guernsey 1-1 AFC Stoneham
A proper battle between two very good sides. Calleigh Hedley (who else?) opened the scoring for the hosts after just five minutes, her twelfth of the season. However, The Purps hit back just past the hour mark through Mia House's seventh of the season. The Stoneham striker then picked up a second yellow card in the final minute. Read the match report on the Guernsey FC web site.

Shaftesbury 0-1 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Quins were surely humming the Harlem Globetrotters theme all the way back from Dorset after a Georgia Brown goal, four minutes before half-time,  gave them all three points at Shaftesbury. The win lifted Bemerton to seventh spot, leaving Shaftesbury bottom and still without a league goal.

Wimborne Town 0-7 Farnham Town
Farnham's 100% start to the season continued at Wimborne, making it six straight wins in all competitions. Two early goals from Rachael Manley and Efrosyni Theocharous had Town two up at the break. Emily Foss, Anya Kinane and a hat-trick from Iesha Swaby rounded off the scoring. Watch the highlights on the Farnham YouTube channel.

FIXTURES Sunday 19th October 2025

Picture
Badshot Lea v Sholing
Both sides are in need of three points, especially The Baggies, who currently sit bottom with zero points from five games. Sholing are two places above with just a single win to their name, a 5-1 defeat of Woodley United. Sholing did the double last season, winning 5-0 at home and 1-0 in the corresponding fixture. Emily Flegg with the goal midway through the first half.
Westfield Lane, Wrecclesham GU10 4PF

Southampton Women v AFC Portchester
A South coast derby between two sides locked together in mid-table. Both have seven points from four games. Portchester just about edge things by means of a single goal difference advantage. Portchester have won their only other away league game this season, without conceding a goal.
Test Park, SO16 9QZ
Picture
Chesham United Development v Abingdon United Development
Abingdon's win at Kidlington last weekend saw them stay top of the league (United Getting The Winning Habit). However, they have played more games than the chasing pack. Chesham are yet to win a home game and Abingdon have a 100% away record. This was the opening fixture last season, a game that Abingdon won 5-0.
Chiltern Hills Academy, HP5 2RG

Oxford City Development v Denham United
The reverse fixture on the opening day of the season saw Denham cruise to a 9-2 victory (Goal Den Girls). Since that day, City have won four of their next six and are currently level on points with United. However, Denham have played three games fewer and are defending a 100% league record coming into this game.
Venue: Oxford City Women & Girls Development
Picture
Farnham Town v AFC Stoneham
Stoneham take their unbeaten record to face Farnham's 100% record. Both sides are averaging 5 goals per game whilst the combined defences have only conceded three goals in seven combined games. A fascinating encounter between a team who have been top three for the past three season's, Stoneham, and the league's disruptive newbies, Farnham.
Memorial Ground, GU9 7DY

Andover New Street v Guernsey
The reverse fixture of what was a throughly entertaining 4-4 draw at Victoria Avenue last month. Guernsey had to come back from two goal down twice that day. Both top scorers, Calleight Hedley for Guernsey and New Street's Olivia Payne, scored twice. They've scored twenty goals between them already this season.
Foxcotte Park, Charlton, Andover SP11 0TA

Havant & Waterlooville v Bursledon
Home has not been a particular happy place for The Hawks so far. Just one win in three games. However, they still find themselves just a point below top spot, even though they are fifth and have played a game more than the leaders. The Dons, meanwhile, are sitting just one place above the drop zone, with three points from their opening four games. This game ended 4-4 last season after an injury time Sophie Lee goal squared up the scores.

Check with home team for venue

Beaconsfield Town v New Bradwell St Peter
Despite defeat last weekend, it's been a good start to life in the Premier League for The Rams. New Bradwell St Peter, although a step below Beaconsfield in Division One South of the East Midlands League, come into the game full of confidence. They boast a 100% record in all competitions and are fresh from a 6-1 at University of Nottingham in the League Cup.

Newport Pagnell Town  v Wycombe Wanderers
Wanderers have started like a house on fire, but they'll be wary of the potential banana skin of a Newport Pagnell team that has only lost once this season. Town sit third in their league and have conceded just once in the league so far. They too are fresh from a League Cup victory, a 5-1 defeat of Gainsborough Trinity.

Penn & Tylers Green v Slough Town
Familiar foes from the same division. They met twice in the league last season with Penn emerging victorious on both occasions. They've not come up against each other so far this season. In fact, Penn have only played two league games so far. Slough, meanwhile, are yet to register a win in the league, but have managed three draws on the road.

Woodley United v Tilehurst Panthers
A local derby in which the underdogs, Tilehurst, will be scenting blood. Woodley have not started the season well, losing all three games so far, conceding too many goals along the way. Panthers have lost just once in five league games and have a 100% away record. Striker Leah Why already has nine goals to her name this season.

Kidlington Youth v East Oxford
A short trip up the A34 for East Oxford who will be looking to bridge the one division gap against a Kidlington side still looking for their first league win of the season. However, it will be a tough ask for the Thames Valley side. Kidlington's performance at the weekend (United Getting The Winning Habit) showed that they are playing better than their league position suggests. As a pointer to the challenge, Kidlington defeated fellow Thames Valley side Ruislip Rangers 4-0 in the FA Cup. East Oxford lost a league game at Ruislip by 4-1.

Oxford City v Tower Hill
A massive challenge for Tower Hill who travel to Marsh Lane looking to bridge a three division gap to their hosts. City will not be taking anything for granted, although they did face a similar contest last season when they were drawn against East Oxford (Makin The Grade). They passed that test with flying colours. Tower Hill are unbeaten in their last two games and have scored ten goals along the way.

Melksham Town v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
These teams know each other well having been in the same division until Harlequins won the league last season. Quins did the double in their promotion push, winning 5-0 at Melksham and 7-1 on the last day of the season at home. Town are second in the Wiltshire League this season and are the league's top scorers. Bemerton, meanwhile, are adapting to life in Step 6. They opened well, had a blip against a couple of the top sides, but won at Shaftesbury last weekend.

Bournemouth Sports Reserves v Winchester City Flyers
Both of these sides have had pretty good starts to their league campaigns. Sports headed the South division for a while and are currently placed third, only behind the leaders on goal difference. Flyers are second in the Premier League, three points behind Wycombe.

Fleet Town v AFC Varsity
Mixed bags in the league for both teams. Fleet have won three, lost three. Varsity have won two, lost two. Of course, they met twice last season as Fleet powered their way to promotion. Fleet won 6-1 at Varsity in November. However, the reverse fixture, in April, went the way of Varsity, who won 2-1.

Finally, I am looking for feedback on the weekly blog, good, bad or indifferent. All feedback gratefully received.
  • For instance, is there anything you'd like to see (within reason. It already takes a couple of days to put together).
  • A different format?
  • Is it even a worthwhile publication?

United Getting The Winning Habit

It was a bit of a last minute decision to get to a game on Sunday. Luckily, Kidlington were at home to Abingdon Development and, only being 20 minutes away, it was close enough to make. Thanks to the Kidlington media admin who sent over both team sheets prior to the game. Very much appreciated.
Prior to kick off Abingdon sat top of the table, level on points with Oxford City Development, who had played a game more. Just three points back were both Denham United and Tilehurst Panthers, both of whom had games in hand. Kidlington, meanwhile, were second from bottom having collected just a solitary point from their opening four games and, with the teams below and directly above both having games in hand, they needed points on the board as soon as possible. So, both teams were in need of a win for different reasons. Add to that the fact that the clubs are only separated by a 14 mile stretch of the A34, and you have the makings of a good local derby. Last season the game ended 1-1 thanks to goals from Kiera Isaac and Lorena Catalan. Kidlington also won 3-2 at The Northcourt last term as well as doing the double the previous season, meaning that Abingdon had never beaten their local rivals since joining the league in 2023.

PictureCourtney Sumner scores from the spot
Kicking away from the clubhouse in the first-half, the Greens made a lively start to the game with Julia Rushmere leading the line, Kiera Isaac on one flank and Emily Keal the other, leaving first-half captain Courtney Sumner to float in the 10 position. Within six minutes Kidlington were awarded a penalty when Kiera Isaac was clipped in side the box. Courtney Sumner stepped to convert from the spot. 1-0
Of course, Abingdon are not top of the league for no reason and, after going behind, they almost immediately stepped up their game. Chloe Forrester used her pace to make the break up the right. Her cross caused all sorts of problems for Kidlington before being cleared for a corner which was eventually poked over the bar by Frida Ives.
Kidlington were now being restricted to attempts from further out, typified by Julia Rushmere's strike from 25 yards that didn't trouble Maisie Moore in the United goal.
Twenty minutes in, Abingdon drew level when former Milton United player, April England, won a physical battle out on the right before squaring the ball into the path of Beth Hawtin, who had the relatively simple task of prodding the ball home from 10 yards. 1-1
Despite losing Cloe Woodward to injury, Kidlington weren't going to allow Abingdon to have everything their own way and came close to edging in front again after 26 minutes. Rushmere delivering an inch-perfect cross for Kiera Isaac, whose glancing header had Moore worried as it dropped just wide of her right-hand post.
Frida Ives then let loose from 30 yards for Abingdon, stepping into midfield to collect a clearance, she took aim and had a dip. A good strike that never really threatened Emily Murphy's goal. However, the Kidlington stopper was called into action a few minutes later blocking well from April England's effort.
Even with an additional five minutes added for Woodward's injury, neither team could muster a breakthrough before the half-time whistle blew.

HT Kidlington Youth 1 Abingdon United Development 1. Good half of football. Kidlington giving as good as they got from their high-flying visitors. Both sides were being driven on by their respective captains, Courtney Sumner for Kidlington and Beth Hawtin for Abingdon, both of whom were giving excellent displays of midfield play. Although, with club captain Beth Dunbavin coming on, Sumner would not have the armband in the second half.

PictureAbingdon press for goals
Almost fifteen minutes of the second half had been played before the next serious goalmouth incident and, when it came, it was the visitors who almost profited. Ellie Owen reacted quickest to a loose backpass and, although Emily Murphy was quick off her line, the ball squirmed out of the challenge, falling to Beth Hawtin. Abingdon's captain had a split-second to react, poking the ball goalwards only to see if roll agonisingly wide of the post.
Just past the hour, it was Kidlington's turn to come close. Sara Pinna's free-kick, delivered into the perfect spot, was met by the head of Kiera Isaac, but with Maisie Moore scrambling, the ball fell narrowly wide of the post.
Two minutes later Abingdon substitute Anaya Grey produced the pass of the match, completely dissecting the Kidlington defence with a sweeping diagonal ball into the path of Jessica Exell. The former Milton player stroked the ball calmly past the advancing Murphy to giver side the lead. 1-2
The turnaround was complete but Kidlington heads did not drop. With 15 minutes remaining Abingdon were grateful o defender Rebecca Bostock, heading clear after Courtney Sumner had sent a header towards the far post. Then, with 10 minutes remaining, a double incident in the visitor's penalty area. Firstly, following a corner, all-action United midfielder Eva Georgievska stayed down after a collision in the box. The ball had been cleared but Liv Thacker latched onto it, unleashing a fizzing effort from 30 yards that looked destined for the top corner until Maisie Moore flew across her goal and tipped the ball over. Great strike and great save.
The game was immediately stopped so that Georgievska could receive attention. With the physio holding her neck steady, things didn't look good. Eventually she was stretchered off. Let's hope the injury is not as serious as it looked and that the stabilising of her neck was purely precautionary. Up to that point, the diminutive midfielder had given a master class in the role of defensive midfielder. Snapping into tackles and generally bossing things. Wishing her a speedy and full recovery.
After the restart Kidlington continued to push and only a goal-line clearance from Isabel Hughes prevented them from equalising in the 86th minute. They were, however, open to the counter-attack and almost conceded a third in the 90th minute. Kidlington keeper Emily Murphy also picked up a knock in the scramble, needing a few minutes of attention before she could continue. All in all the referee added 10 minutes of injury time, but even that was not enough for Kidlington to find the all-important goal.

FT Kidlington Youth 1 Abingdon United Development 2. A close encounter decided by the odd goal in three. The result sees Abingdon retain their position at the top of the table, three points clear having two more than second placed Denham and one more than Tilehurst. Kidlington stay in the bottom two and are still after their first league win of the season. The plus point for the Greens is that they pushed the leaders all the way in this game and didn't look like a team at the foot of the table.
Next weekend, Kidlington have a break from the league as they take on Thames Valley side East Oxford in the Oxfordshire Women's Cup. Abingdon travel to Chesham in a league encounter.

Kidlington Youth: 1.Murphy, 3.Antonen, 4.Owen, 8.Woodward, 17.Pinna, 18.Thacker, 23.Chewings, 16.Sumner(c), 9.Isaac, 6.Keal, 10.J.Rushmere. Subs: 2.Cotton, 5.Dunbabin, 27.Ward, 11.I.Rushmere, 15.Haynes

SoReg Review (25/26) - Edition 7 - The Co-Op Edition

8/10/2025

This week's SoReg Review is brought to you from the home of Keira Walsh, Anna Friel, Bill Oddie, Gracie Fields and, of course, The Co-Op. Stuck in endless meetings all week, hence the late delivery and brevity of this week's edition.
It was FA Cup weekend last week and I'm pleased to report that six SoReg teams have made it through to the First Round. Around the leagues, Fleet Town won at home for the first time this season. Abingdon United climbed back to the top of the North and, in the South, Bournemouth Sports Reserves regained their top spot with a win at Havant & Waterlooville.
Picture
Fleet Town 7-0 Woodley United
Fleet registered their first home win of the season, consigning Woodley to a second heavy league defeat. Two goals each from Layla Drury and Avery Tolley, plus additional strikes from Emily Hulford-Funnell, Zoe Luff and Jocelyn Elleby, saw Town cruise to victory.

A stunning comeback from The Chairgirls who were two down at the break thanks to goals from Victoria Collett and Elsa Walker. AFC Portchester v Oxford City
Both sides progressed to the First Round of the FA Cup over the weekend. Now it's back to league action. Two points separate them currently, with Portchester having the edge. Last season a Charlotte Keenan hat-trick help Portchy to a 7-2 victory in this fixture.
Wicor Recreation Ground, Cranleigh Road, Fareham, Hampshire PO16 9DP

Westfield Lane, Wrecclesham GU10 4PF

Southampton Women v Sholing
A mixed bag so far for these two. Sholing have won just one league game, but did have a thumping SDFA win at the weekend. Southampton have won one, drawn one and lost one in the league. They'll be defending a 100% away record, albeit only one game.
Test Park Sports Ground, Southampton, SO16 9QZ

Winchester City Flyers v Beaconsfield Town
Third versus second as it stands. City have won both home league games so far, clocking up 11 goals in the process. Meanwhile, The Rams have a 100% away record and have only conceded two on the road. So, something has to give on Sunday.
Hiller Way, Winchester SO50 7SU

Woodley United v Reading
It's been a terrible start to the season for Woodley, who have lost both league games and gone out of the FA Cup. A 7-0 defeat at Fleet on Sunday was hardly good preparation for this local derby. Reading also lost at the weekend, going down 2-1 to Brentford in the FA Cup.

Denham United v Chesham United Development
Chesham failed to push on from their win at Kidlington two weeks ago, and now face a trip to a Denham side boasting a 100% league record. Denham pushed Premier League side Oxford City to penalties last weekend, before bowing out of the FA Cup.
The Den, Oxford Road, Denham, UB9 4DW

Farnborough v Ascot United Reserves
After yet another postponement at thew weekend, Ascot will be hoping to play just their third league game of the season. Farnborough, two places and two points above their visitors, went down 4-0 at home to Abingdon last weekend.
The Easy As HGV Stadium, Farnborough, GU14 8UD

Kidlington Youth v Abingdon United Development
The Greens snatched their first point of the season with a late equaliser on Sunday. They now face the tough test of the league leaders coming to town. Abingdon regained that position with a 4-0 win at Farnborough at the weekend. This game finished all square last season.
Yarnton Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AT

Oxford City Development v Tilehurst Panthers
City's 6-0 defeat of Milton keeps them level on points with the leaders at the top, albeit having played a game more. Panthers are just three points back with two games in hand. City have a 100% home record, Panthers a 100% away record (without conceding yet). So, again, something has to give in this one.
Venue: Oxford City Women & Girls Development

Penn & Tylers Green v Milton United
Three defeats in league and cup with no goals scored yet. Milton are struggling to get their season going. A visit to last season's runners-up is probably not highest on their wish list. Penn have won both of their league games this season but did go out of the cup on Sunday, losing 5-2 to Sutton United.
French School Meadow, Elm Road, Penn HP10 8LG

Slough Town v Larkspur Rovers
Slough's three league points this season have all come from draws on the road, although this will only be their second home game. Rovers have won two of their three outings so far, although they did lose last time out, a 4-1 defeat at Oxford City Devs.
Arbour Park, Stoke Road, Slough SL2 5AY

AFC Varsity v Havant & Waterlooville
These two teams are locked together on six points in mid-table with Havant edging it on goal difference, but Varsity having a game in hand. Last season a single Emily Wernham goal gave The Hawks the three points.
Hatches Farm Sports Ground, SO51 6EA

Bournemouth Sports Reserves v Nursling & Shirley
Sports leapt back into top spot at the weekend but have played more games than anyone else. They'll be keen to keep up the pace at the top against a Nursling & Shirley side who have lost all three league outings so far, without scoring. Last season this fixture ended 6-0 to Bournemouth with Emma Acott scoring four of the goals.
Chapel Gate, East Parley, BH23 6BL

Bursledon v Andover New Street
It's been less than a month since these two sides met in the FA Cup. Bursledon were victorious on that occasion, Rosina Foulkes scoring twice in a 4-2 win that saw New Street reduced to ten when Ruby Allen saw red.
Toynbee School, Eastleigh SO53 2PL

Guernsey v AFC Stoneham
The Purps travel to Guernsey, taking their 100% league record with them. Stoneham have already scored 19 goals in their three league outings and, as we have seen already, Guernsey games produce goals. Will we see another goal-fest on Sunday?
Victoria Avenue, Guernsey GY2 4BB

Shaftesbury v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Something of a local derby with the home side in need of points to kickstart their campaign. Having lost their opening three without yet scoring a goal, Shaftesbury will be keen to get off the mark. Harlequins have won two and lost two in a reasonably good start to their life in the Southern Region League.
Coppice Street, SP7 8PD

Wimborne Town v Farnham Town
Both sides had good cup wins at the weekend, but their league form couldn't be more different. Whilst Farnham have started like a train, winning both games and scoring nine goals, The Magpies have yet to pick up a point and have conceded four or more in each game so far.

Six players helped them selves to hat-tricks over the weekend. Freya Harris, Chelsie Hay, Annie Northwood, Emma-Jane May, Deanna Cane and Leah Why, who actually scored four. Extraordinarily, the biggest winning margin of the day, Stoneham's 14-0 win, did not feature a hat-trick.
In the Premier League, Wycombe continued their superb start with a 4-1 defeat of Sholing to stay 3 points clear. Denham United won the top-two tussle at Abingdon, and now lead the North on goal difference. Stoneham's big win saw them leapfrog Bournemouth Sports Reserves, who lost at home to AFC Varsity (Sports Suffer From Kayjà Vu), to go top of the table in the South.
Coming up this weekend, the FA Cup is back with 11 SoReg teams still in the competition. At least one will go through, as Oxford City face Denham United in an all SoReg tie.

Deanna Cane made it two eight minutes later before Leah Why hit a five minute hat-trick between the 22nd and 27th minute. Incredibly, in the middle of that, sister Abbie Why also scored. FIXTURES - Sunday 5th October

Picture
Fleet Town v Woodley United
Two teams in need of a kickstart to their season. Fleet have won once in their four league outings, a 3-2 win at Sholing, but have been shipping a lot of goals. Woodley have only played one league game so far, a 5-1 defeat at Sholing. Both teams also crashed out of the FA Cup at the previous hurdle, losing to Farnham Town and Harpenden respectively.
Crookham Road, Fleet GU51 5FA
Picture
Chesham United Development v Tilehurst Panthers
United earned their first win of the season in some style on Sunday, winning 5-1 at Kidlington. Meanwhile, Panthers were putting thirteen past Milton United. Last season Panthers won this fixture 3-2 but had to fend off a late fightback from Chesham, who were 3-0 down going into the final five minutes.
Chiltern Hills Academy, Chartridge Road, Chesham HP5 2RG

Farnborough v Abingdon United Development
Last Sunday, whilst Abingdon were losing their 100% record at home to Denham, Farnborough were gaining their first win of the season with a 3-1 defeat of Slough Town. United have a possibility of regaining top spot with a win, with leaders Denham in FA Cup action.
The Easy As HGV Stadium, GU14 8UD

Kidlington Youth v Slough Town
With both sides still looking for their first win, this is an early season six-pointer but is especially important to Kidlington who have yet to register a point. Last season two Grace Craven goals helped the Green to a 5-2 victory in this fixture. Slough gained revenge with a 3-1 win at Arbour Park, courtesy of an Isabella Jones hat-trick.
Yarnton Road, OX5 1AT

Larkspur Rovers v Ascot United Reserves
Rovers lost their 100% start on Sunday, going down 4-1 at Oxford City Development. Ascot, meanwhile, have not played since their early September home defeat to Abingdon. A home win would put Rovers right up in the mix whereas Ascot will want points on the board to pull clear of the drop zone and get their season off the mark.
Venue: Larkspur Rovers Ladies

Milton United v Oxford City Development
This will be Oxford's sixth league game but only the second for Milton. City got back to winning ways at the weekend with a 4-1 defeat of larkspur Rovers. Milton's opening league did not go as planned as they were beaten heavily at home to Tilehurst Panthers.
Milton Heights, OX14 4XB
Picture
Andover New Street v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Both sides have had pretty good starts to their Division One South campaigns. Harlequins are currently edging it with two wins from three whereas New Street have won one, drawn one, and lost one. With the league leaders in cup action and second playing fourth, a win here could put the victors right in the mix at the top.
Foxcotte Park, Charlton, Andover SP11 0TA

Havant & Waterlooville v Bournemouth Sports Reserves
This was one of the games of the season last year. A game that had pretty much everything. The Hawks won it by the odd goal in nine but had to come from two goals down twice. Sophie Lee grabbed a hat-trick for Havant, Isobel Wheatley scored but then picked up two yellows, and Laurie Potvin hit a late winner for the home side. If they can produce even half of that excitement, this could be a game to watch.
Westleigh Park, Havant PO9 5TH

Nursling & Shirley v AFC Varsity
Varsity edged a 1-0 win at Bournemouth last weekend (Sports Suffer From Kayja Vu) and will be looking to secure a third win of the season, something that took them until December last season. The Bees have not started well, losing all of their games without scoring so far. Last season Varsity edged this one by a single Jennifer Parr goal.
Redbridge Lane, Southampton SO16 0XN

Shaftesbury v Guernsey
Two league defeats on the bounce without scoring for newly-promoted Shaftesbury. No such problems for Guernsey in the scoring stakes. They've already scored 14 in their opening three games. However, they have conceded twelve too, one more than Shaftesbury, albeit having played a game more.
Coppice Street, SP7 8PD
Picture
AFC Portchester v Weymouth
South West Regional Division One South side Weymouth have very contrasted league and cup results this season. Two league games have seen consecutive defeats with no goal scored. Two cup games have produced six goals scored and none conceded. Portchester, who progressed at the expense of Havant & Waterlooville, have only lost one game in all competitions so far.
Venue: AFC Portchester Womens

AFC Stoneham v Gloucester City
City play in the South West Regional League Division One North. They are yet to win in four league outings, having drawn their first game and lost the next three. However, they did top the division last season, finishing fourteen points clear. The Purps have a 100% record in all competitions and are scoring for fun this season, having clo9cked up no fewer than 38 goals in five games.
Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh SO16 2PA

Beaconsfield Town v Chatham Town
The Rams, after losing their opening game, have bounced back with four wins in all competitions. This will be a tough test for them as they take on National League South East side, Chatham Town. Currently in mid-table, Chatham are particularly flying in cups, having won all three of their FA WNL Cup group games so far.
Holloways Park, Windsor Road, Beaconsfield HP9 2SE

Bridgewater United v Bursledon
A very tough away day awaits The Dons as they make the trip west to take on National League South West side Bridgwater Town, who currently sit fourth in the table having lost just once in their five opening games. Bursledon, however, have got their season on track by winning their last two games, scoring four goals on both occasions.
Fairfax Park, TA6 4TZ

Farnham Town v Eastbourne Borough
Borough currently top the London & South East Division 1 South table and have a 100% record across the seven games they have played in all competitions. They are not short on goals, having accumulated 25 in 5 league outings so far. However, Farnham can also boast  100% record in all competitions and have scored a total of 24 in these four games. Statistics say that it's going to be a tough day for both defences.
Memorial Ground, GU9 7DY

Feniton v Wimborne Town
South West Division One South side Feniton have scored three in both FA Cup games so far. In the league they have won one, lost one. The Magpies, whilst going well in the FA Cup, have started their league campaign with there straight defeats, the latest coming in Sunday's 4-1 reversal at Bursledon. In the cup they have already disposed of Bournemouth manor and Shaftesbury.
Acland Park, EX14 3EA

Maidstone United v Badshot Lea
Maidenhead sit in mid-table of National League Division One South West, having taken five points from five games. This game will represent a welcome break from league action for The Baggies, who have lost four from four domestically. They did, however, come through the last round with a big 5-1 defeat of Basingstoke.
Gallagher Stadium, ME14 1LQ

Oxford City v Denham United
Denham have started the season on fire. Five wins from five in all competitions and sitting top of Division One North. They opened their season with a 9-2 defeat of Oxford's Development team (Goal Den Girls) but this wil be an altogether different experience. City have won one, drawn one and lost one in the league, their defeat coming at the hands of league leaders Wycombe Wanderers. They put out Denham's league-mates, Farnborough, in the previous round.
Marsh Lane, Marston, Oxford, Oxfordshire OX3 0NQ

Reading v Brentford
Brentford top the London & South East Premier League with a 100% record and progressed to this stage with a 2-0 win at South East Counties Premier side Tonbridge Angels. Reading got here via their win at Manorcroft United (Lemons Squeezed Out By Royals). The Royals also moved up to fourth with a great win at Southampton on Sunday.
Arbour Park, Stoke Road, Slough SL2 5AY

Wycombe Wanderers v Chesham United
A great test for Wycombe after their perfect start to the season. Can they continue their run against Step 4 side Chesham United? A local derby cup tie with the lower ranked team in sparkling form. What could be better? Chesham have yet to win a National League South East game this season, their single point coming from a draw with bottom side AFC Sudbury.

PictureThe teams line up
This Sunday I had made my mind up to head to one of the furthest points (for me anyway) in the Southern Region League, Bournemouth Sports. It was a calculated risk to make a 210 mile, 4 hour, round trip, but a check of the forecast for Bournemouth showed that the rain currently falling in Bicester was not going to spread South. As it turned out, the game was played mostly in bright sun and above average temperature.
The match in question was the Division One South tussle between current leaders Bournemouth Sports Reserves and mid-table AFC Varsity. Sports had gone top after last week's 8-0 victory at Nursling & Shirley, but had played more games than those around them. Varsity won their opening league game 3-0 against Shaftesbury but had then lost by the same score to Stoneham in their second outing. Last season this fixture ended 1-0 to Varsity thanks to an early Kayleigh Mackay goal. The same player also scored Varsity's goal in the 1-1 home draw, after Abi Lander had given Sports the lead.

PictureSports look for an opening
After being concerned about possible rain, the worst problem the spectators had as we approached kick-off was the bright sunshine shining directly into our eyes.
The visitors appeared to settle into the game earlier than their hosts, but weren't able to mount any serious attacks and, as the half progressed, Sports played their way back into the game and began to edge it in terms of possession. However, neither side managed to seriously test their opposing goalkeeper.
Kay Mackay mustered the first attempt on target in the 20th minute, receiving the ball on the right-hand edge of the area but firing directly at Maya Newsham, who handled the shot comfortably.
Both teams continued to probe for openings, but the defences were in charge at this point, neither giving the strikers many glimpses of the goal. With ten minutes to go until the break, Bournemouth were awarded a free-kick some 30 yards out in a fairly central position. Olivia Palmer took aim and hit the target but it was too far out to give Jade Collins too many problems. A few minutes later Sports earned another free-kick, some 5 yards closer and slightly to the left. Palmer took aim once again, sending the shot low towards the left-hand post. Collins had to dive to her left to make the save, allowing the ball to squirm loose but recovering quickly to fall on it before any strikers could follow in.
A minute before half-time Varsity came as close as anyone to opening the scoring when Newsham spilled Jess Nunn's effort. Mackay was quick to react but so was Newsham and, with both players throwing themselves bravely into the challenge, the ball span wide of the mark.

HT Bournemouth Sports Reserves 0 AFC Varsity 0. A fairly evenly matched half of football. After a slow start, Bournemouth probably held an advantage in  terms of possession, but Varsity generated the better opportunities.

PictureVarsity attacking
A slight alteration in formation saw Varsity switch top-scorer Kay Mackay into a more central role for the second-half. Within a minute of the restart the change paid off. A glorious through ball from Jess Nunn  found Eloise Payne. Her progress was slowed by a defender but she managed to slip the ball inside for Mackay who calmly rolled the ball under Newsham. 0-1

Whilst Bournemouth looked to get back on level terms, it was the visitors who generated the next big chance when substitute Gurender Rayat was sent clear, one on one with Maya Newsham. This time the Sports stopper came out on top, blocking the attempt well to keep her team in it.
The game was halted in the 72nd minute when Carmen Perry went down with a head injury. At first it looked as if she had been caught by the ball, but it soon became apparent that it was a little more than that. However, after a fairly lengthy delay, and some bandaging applied by Varsity's own player-doctor Armiee Akpobire, Perry was able to get back on her feet and leave the field under her own steam, thankfully.
Heading into the last few minutes, Sports continued to push forward, looking for the elusive equaliser. Tilly Pitcher as given a clear view of goal but, from twenty yards, she struck her shot well over. Then, in the final minute of normal time, Varsity had something of a lucky escape. Olivia Palmer's low drive was well-struck but straight at Collins. The goalkeeper elected to go with her feet to make the stop only for the ball to ricochet off her and run just wide of the post. From the ensuing corner Emma Eden met the ball on the volley, only to see her effort also flash wide of the post.

HT Bournemouth Sports Reserves 0 AFC Varsity 1. As the score suggests, there wasn't too much between the teams throughout the 90 minutes. Clear cut chances were few and far between but Kay Mackay took her chance and sent Varsity home with the points, an exact repeat of lats season's result. The defeat sees Sports lose top spot to AFC Stoneham, but they remain in second. Varsity move up a place to sixth, just a point behind Bournemouth in a congested mid-table.
Next weekend Sports make the trip along the coast to take on fourth placed Havant & Waterlooville. Last season The Hawks edged this one by the odd goal in nine. A game that saw Havant's, now departed striker, Sophie Lee score a hat-trick and Bournemouth's Isobel Weatherly see red.
Varsity are also on the road as the visit The Hive, home of bottom side Nursling & Shirley. Last season Varsity snuck a 1-0 victory in this game thanks to a 63rd minute Jennifer Parr strike.

Chapel Gate
The Ground
Bournemouth Sports are based at Chapel Gate, a multi-sport complex that is managed by Bournemouth University. Situated just a few hundred yards from Bournemouth Airport, the hub is the home to Bournemouth Rugby Club, Bournemouth Squash Club and, of course, Bournemouth Sports Football Club. The approach road takes you past a karting track before opening out into a large car park adjacent to the main clubhouse, bar and cafe. Just past this is the entrance to the rugby club and, if you take a right, a further access road that leads to the football club. There are more parking spaces along this road and next to the main pitch. There are multiple full size pitches but the main one id the pitch closest to the access road. The club has a separate building for changing rooms set back in the woodland behind the pitches. There are dugouts straddling the halfway line and, next to these, a small roofless, seating stand. There are also metal structures along this side of the pitch that look like the could be covered to provide spectator shelter. However they don't currently have any roofing. The playing surface looks to be pretty much flat, with no discernable slope.
The whole complex has a really buzz about it. The main car park was almost full when I got there and all of the various pitches, grass and artificial, were occupied. I counted six different sports being played, football, rugby, hockey, netball, lacrosse and even some American footballers. A brilliant community sports hub.

SoReg Review (25/26) - Edition 5 - Fourteen Left Standing

23/9/2025

The FA Cup was front and centre on Sunday with 23 Southern Region teams in knockout action. Fourteen teams made it through to the next round with nine falling by the wayside. Of the nine who were knocked out, seven of them were beaten by other SoReg teams. There were a couple of "cupsets" along the way. Farnham Town's 6-1 win at Premier League neighbours Fleet Town was certainly a statement and Ashridge Park of the Thames Valley League caused a shock at Yarnton Road as they sae off Kidlington Youth 3-2.
In the leagues only a few games were on. Chesham United Development picked up a first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Slough. Tilehurst Panthers also got off the mark, beating Oxford City Development 2-1 at Scours Lane. In the South, Bournemouth Sports Reserves lifted themselves to the summit with an 8-0 win at Nursling & Shirley.

Chesham United Development 1-1 Slough Town
A Henrietta Cunnison goal after 75 minutes looked as if it had earned Chesham a first win of the season. However, they eventually had to settle for a point after Slough's Megan Duffy grabbed an equaliser nine minutes into added time.

Tilehurst Panthers 2-1 Oxford City Development
Panthers edged through to a first win of the season with a narrow 2-1 defeat of Oxford City Development. Leah Why scored both of Tilehurst's goals, in the 21st and 92nd minutes. Precious Kujore was on hand to notch her first for City, who also had Libby Burgess sent off.
Picture
Nursling & Shirley 0-8 Bournemouth Sports Reserves
Sports went top of the table with a comprehensive win at The Hive, leaving Nursling & Shirley anchored to the foot of the table and still without a goal. Matilda Pitcher led the way for Bournemouth opening the scoring in the 3rd minute and going on to claim a hat-trick. Milla Lewis added two, one in each half. Charlotte Kerr then also helped herself to a hat-trick, including two goals in two minutes towards the end.
Picture
AFC Stoneham 3-1 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Two goals from Lucy Bicknell and one from Chloe Marshall was enough to see The Purps through to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the cup. Harlequins did get a goal through Amy Sanger on 39 minutes, but couldn't find a way to rein in Stoneham. The Purps will now take on Gloucester City at Stoneham Lane in the next round.

Badshot Lea 5-0 Basingstoke Town
The Baggies put their league form well and truly behind them as they progressed in the FA Cup with a resounding defeat of Basingstoke Town. Jasmine Lewins opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Louise Curr added a second five minutes later. Badhsot Lea then killed the game with three goals around the hour mark. Curr grabbed her second on the hour, Ellie Gill made it four on 61 minutes and Curr completed her hat-trick three minutes later. Badshot Lea's reward is a trip to National League South West side Maidstone United.

Bursledon 4-2 Andover New Street
Violet Alen gave New Street the lead in this one, but that was soon cancelled out by Charlet Norman-Tasker, who went on to lead 3-1 by the break thanks to two goals from Rosina Folkes. Ruby Allen was then red-carded in the aftermath of Bursledon's fourth goal scored by Isobel Pouncy, before Freya Twigg pulled a goal back for Andover. However, with Andover reduced to nine after losing a player to a head injury, they couldn't find any more goals.

Denham United 1-0 New Bradwell St Peter
They left it late but a Pia Davis goal finally saw off the Bradwell resistance and Denham made it into the hat for the next round. Denham now face a trip to Marsh Lane to take on Oxford City in the next round.

Farnborough 2-3 Oxford City
Division One North newbies Farnborough put up a good fight against their Premier League opponents before losing out to the odd goal in five. Katherine Parsons put The Hoops in front just past the half hour only for Ellie Stalley to level it up just before the hours. Oxford were son back in front thanks to Ellie White. Grace Craven then scored her first City goal on 72 minutes. Farnborough pulled a goal back immediately through Ellie Stallely again, but could not find another equaliser. A home tie with Denham United is next up for Oxford City.

Finchampstead 1-3 Penn & Tylers Green
A brave effort from Finchampstead, playing their first ever home FA Cup tie in front of over 150 spectators. They went behind early on to the first of Tara Woodward's three goals, but were on level terms after 18 minutes when Ruby Huggins latched onto a Laruen Smaje through ball. The hosts held on until the 89th minute when Woodward popped up again, completing her hat-trick in the 93rd minute. Penn now face a trip around the M25 to take on Sutton United.

Fleet Town 1-6 Farnham Town
The first derby game between these two, separated by just under six miles with Farnham creating something of a "cupset" by winning at their Premier League rivals. The visitors took control of the game early on scoring twice, through Iesha Swaby and Maya Adams, within the opening 15 minutes. Rachael Manley added a third on 24 minutes. Adams scored her second goal two minutes after the restart with Rebecca Price making it five six minutes later. With 20 minutes remaining Francesca Thornton added the sixth before Layla Drury got a late consolation for Fleet.
Watch the match highlights on the Farnham Town YouTube channel. Farnham will welcome Eastbourne Borough in the next round.

Harpenden Town 8-1 Woodley United
Eastern Region Premier League Harpenden booked a place in the next round with a resounding victory at home to Woodley United. Leading after 6 minutes through Sophia Amanor, they were four up by half-time with further goals from Amanor again, Jamie Curtain and Chloe Dinsey. Just after the break Sophia Amanor completed her hat-trick. Nancy Tucker made it six after 68 minutes and Leah Shellard added the seventh seven minutes later. May Hamblin then grabbed a consolation for Woodley before Belle Shannon rounded off the scoring a minute from time.  Check out the match action photographs, captured by Andy Wicks. Harpenden's reward is a trip to Haringey Borough.

Havant & Waterlooville 2-3 AFC Portchester
Lottie Spottiswood after 11 minutes and Emma-Jane May, just before the half-hour, had The Hawks two up at the break and thinking about a "cupset". They were still in front with just 11 minutes remaining, before Portchester went on a goal spree, scoring three times in seven minutes through Rebecca Bath, Millie Bradbury and Charmaine True. Photographer Paul Terry captured the match action for us.
Portchester have a south coast derby against Weymouth to look forward to in the next round.

Kidlington Youth 2-3 Ashridge Park
Thames Valley side Ashridge Park sprung something of a surprise in Oxfordshire, knocking their higher-ranked opponents out of the cup. Georgia Boonham fired the Blues into an early lead only for a Courtney Sumner penalty to level the scores after 20 minutes. Eight minutes later Park went back in front through Chloe Barton, also from the spot and before the break, Lauren Broadhurst put the visitors 3-1 up. Julia Rushmere got the Greens back into it but Ashridge held on to claim a fantastic win. You can catch up the match photos thanks to Duncan Eames. Ashridge Park travel to South London Women in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

Manorcroft United 0-5 Reading
Despite the score line, Manorcroft gave their illustrious visitors a real game, especially in the first half. Eventually the experience of the SoReg Premier League side eased them through, but Manorcroft can be very proud of their team and for putting on such a great day out. The difference was made by a selection of the new recruits that Reading brought in over the off-season. Tia Johnson started the scoring with Ellie Manners added a second just over a minute later. Keren Banduka made it three after 72 minutes, then Natalie Cowell grabbed a four minute brace towards the end. Read the BotP match report (Lemons Squeezed Out By Royals). Reading will entertain Brentford in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

Southampton Women 3-0 Steyning Town
Steyning Town put aside the one step difference in league standings as they held The Sirens to 0-0 for more than an hour. However, Southampton finally made the breakthrough on 68 minutes through Eliska Lynn. When Lucy Mear slotted home a penalty in the 81st minute, the cup tie was as good as sealed, but Lynn made certain with her second on the stroke of full-time. A trip to Devon awaits in the next round as the Sirens venture down to Torquay United

St Albans City 1-1 (p4-5) Beaconsfield Town
A tight encounter between these two Step 5 sides. The Rms found themselves ahead at the break after Alix Todd's corner was deflected in for an own goal. However, St Albans levelled the scores soon after the break through Terri Harvey. It stayed that way for the remainder of the match, which went straight to penalties with Beaconsfield squeezing through 5-4. You can watch the full shootout on the Beaconsfield YouTube channel. Beaconsfield's reward is a home tie with Chatham Town.

Wallingford & Crowmarsh 1-10 Wycombe Wanderers
Ruthless Wanderers continued their prolific start to the season by clocking up double figures against Wallingford & Crowmarsh. However, they did have to come from behind after the hosts stunned them with a first minute opener from Megan Osborne. Jessica Watkins squared it up after 10 minutes, but the Chairgirls were made to wait until the 35th minute to get in front, when Kayla Potter scored. Two minutes later Watkins got her second and Chloe Melton made it 4-1 just before the break. Within eight minutes of the restart two more Kayla Potter goals saw the striker claim her hat-trick. Jessica Watkins then also helped herself to a hat-trick after 74 minutes. Potter then struck again with two minutes to go, and Watkins hit her fourth in the final minute before Potter made it ten and five for her a minute into added time. Watch all the goals on the Wycombe X feed.
Wycombe now face a local derby with National League South West side Chesham United

Wimborne Town 1-1 (p3-0) Shaftesbury
The Magpies progressed through their second Dorset FA Cup derby, edging past Shaftesbury on penalties. It was one a piece after 90 minutes thanks top Sheree Bell-Jack for Wimborne and Nikki Castle for Shaftesbury. However, the home team booked their spot in the next round thanks toa 3-0 victory from the spot, earning goalkeeper Tegan Barnes the PotM award, after she saved all three Shaftesbury penalties. Check out the match photos from Steve Harris. Read about the game in the Bournemouth Echo. Wimborne will now travel to Feniton in the third qualifying round.

Winchester City Flyers 2-2 (p5-4) Sholing
Sholing fought back from behind twice before eventually going out on penalties. Libby WIlkinson put Flyers in front after 13 minutes only for Ella Wilson to equalise 20 minutes later. The games then stayed level until the 80th minute when Annie Northwood must have thought she'd won it for City. Sophie Elmes had other ideas, squaring it up again with a minute of normal time remaining, before City went through 5-4 from the spot. Read the match report on the City web site, listen to Emma Pearmine's post match thoughts and check out the match photos on the City web site.
City will entertain Yeovil Town in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

Badshot Lea v Beaconsfield Town
After their morale-boosting FA Cup victory at the weekend, the Baggies go back to the task of trying to find a first league point of the season. However, standing in their way is a rejuvenated Rams side who, after losing their opening game heavily, have stormed back to win their next three games.
Westfield Lane, Wrecclesham GU10 4PF

Southampton Women v Reading FC Community Trust
The Sirens are now unbeaten in their opening three games and have made progress in the FA Cup. Reading also won their FA Cup tie at the weekend (Lemons Squeezed Out By Royals) and only sit a point behind Southampton in the league.
Redbridge Community School,  Cuckmere Ln, SO16 9RJ

Winchester City Flyers v Fleet Town
Flyers have won one and lost one in the league so far. They also progressed in the cup after seeing off Sholing in a penalty shootout. Fleet's start has not been as good. Two defeats in the league, both at home, followed by a cup exit, also at home. They'll be glad to be on the road, where they have a 100% record so far, having won their only away day, 3-2 at Sholing.
Hiller Way, Winchester SO50 7SU

Woodley United v AFC Portchester
It's been far from an ideal start for Woodley so far, losing their opening league game at Sholing and being knocked out of the FA Cup by Harpenden. Portchy, meanwhile, have won two of three league games and progressed in the cup. They also have recent history on their side, having done the double over United last season, including a 2-1 win at Bulmershe Pavilion towards the end of the campaign.

Wycombe Wanderers v Sholing
Wanderers have started the season in sparkling form. Four consecutive wins in all competitions with 31 goals scored and three conceded. It's a tough test for Sholing who have won one and lost two in the league so far. Last season Wycombe won the corresponding fixture 5-1 after the teams had drawn 0-0 in the reverse fixture.
18i78 Stadium, Wymers Wood Road, Burnham SL1 8JG
Picture
Abingdon United Development v Denham United
The current top two in the North going head to head. Abingdon sit top of the table, three points clear but Denham have a game in hand. Both have 100% records, so something has to give on Sunday. They've scored 35 goals between them in five league games, so this will probably be either be a 10 goal thriller or nil-nil.
The Northcourt, OX14 1PL

Farnborough v Slough Town
Neither side has registered a win yet, although to be fair, Farnborough have only played one league game. Borough showed some spirit in only losing 3-2 to Premier League Oxford City in the cup last weekend. Slough picked up their second point of the season with a very late equaliser at Chesham, showing that they too have plenty of fight and keep going to the end.
The Easy As HGV Stadium, Farnborough, GU14 8UD

Kidlington Youth v Chesham United Development
Neither of these teams has made the start they would have wanted. Chesham have a single point, earned last Sunday, from four games. Kidlington sit bottom having lost both league games and being knocked out of the cup by Ashridge Park on Sunday. The Greens won both meetings last season, 3-1 in this fixture and 1-0 at Chiltern Hills Academy.
Yarnton Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AT

Milton United v Tilehurst Panthers
Milton have not yet played a league game and lost their only match so far, 7-0 at Finchampstead. Panthers have won one and lost one in the league and progressed in the cup with a 2-1 defeat of Oxford City Development. Last season Tilehurst did the double over Milton, winning 2-1 on both occasions.
Milton Heights, Abingdon OX14 4XB

Oxford City Development v Larkspur Rovers
Won two, lost two is the record boasted by City. They sit fifth in the table, level on points with Rovers. However, Larkspur, in third, have won both of their league outings so far, 5-2 at Chesham and 4-1 at home to Kidlington. With the top two playing each other, the teams in the pack may have a chance to make up some ground.
Venue: Oxford City Women & Girls Development

Penn & Tylers Green v Ascot United Reserves
Another team with a 100% record after two games is Penn & Tylers Green. They too progressed in the FA Cup, giving that 100% record across all competitions so far. Ascot have drawn one and lost one of their league games. Last season both games ended in home wins. Penn winning this fixture 1-0 and Ascot winning 2-0 at The Racecourse.
French School Meadow, Elm Road, Penn HP10 8LG
Picture
AFC Stoneham v Nursling & Shirley
You couldn't get two more opposing records than these two so far this season. Stoneham have a 100% record across all competitions, including two league victories over Bournemouth Sports Reserves and AFC Varsity. Nursling & Shirley have lost all three of their games, two in the league and one in the FA Cup. They are also looking for their first goal of the season. The Purps won this fixture 8-2 last season but had to come from behind to do so.
Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh SO16 2PA

Bournemouth Sports Reserves v AFC Varsity
Sports currently sit top of the league albeit having played two more games than anyone else. They'll be looking to consolidate their position against a Varsity side who have won one, lost one in the league. However, Varsity won the corresponding fixture last season, with an early Kayleigh Rogers goal enough to separate the side.
Chapel Gate, East Parley, BH23 6BL

Bursledon v Wimborne Town
Both of these sides have played two and lost two in the league, although both have progressed in the FA Cup at the expense of other teams in the South Division. The Dons have also yet to find the net in the league. No such problem for Wimborne, who have managed to score eight goals in two games without even picking up a draw. Last season the sides fought out a 1-1 draw in this fixture. BotP was there to see it. (These Two Are Keepers)
Priory Park, SO32 1SQ

Farnham Town v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Two of the new sides in the division, who have both hit the ground running this season. Bemerton have won both of their opening two league games, at home to Bursledon and away at Wimborne. Farnham have played only one league game, a 4-0 win at Havant & Waterlooville. They've also progressed in the cup by beating AFC Varsity and then, last Sunday, winning 6-1 at Premier League Fleet Town.
Memorial Ground, Farnham, GU9 7DY

Guernsey v Andover New Street
With eighteen goals scored across their first two league games, ten of which Guernsey have notched, entertainment is certainly the name of the game. New Street become the second team to visit the unbeaten Green Lionesses, following a mixed start themselves. They opened with two 5-0 away wins at Nursling and Pagham, in the FA Cup, but then lost at home to Havant in the league and went out of the cup at Bursledon.
Victoria Avenue, Guernsey GY2 4BB

Havant & Waterlooville v Shaftesbury
Havant lost their opening league encounter to Farnham, but then won at Andover in their next game. In between they beat Bognor Regis in the FA Cup, but then went out to Premier League AFC Portchester on Sunday. Shaftesbury lost 3-0 at Varsity in their opening league game before losing to Wimborne on penalties in the FA Cup.
