21/1/2026

Just over a month on from ending Wycombe's 100% start to the season, Reading proved to be the Choirgirls' nemesis again last weekend, putting an end to an unbeaten run that stretched back just over a year. Elsewhere in the Premier League, Woodley lost at Beaconsfield and Fleet Town completed a season double over Badshot Lea.
In the North both Larkspur Rovers and Penn & Tylers Green kept up the pressure on leaders Denham United. Wimborne
and Bemerton both won in the south, but Farnham still lead by six points. There were no upsets in the various county cup clashes.

Results - Sunday 18 January 2026

Picture
Beaconsfield Town 4-1 Woodley United
A Mia Parkin goal, just past the midway point of the first half, had The Rams ahead at the break. Within 12 minutes of the restart Ashleigh Harte and Henna Hussain had extended that lead to 3-0. Woodley's new signing, Ellie Stalley, pulled a goal back in the 94th minute only for Lexie Sanmarco to restore the three goal led a minute later. Watch the highlights here, courtesy of Beaconsfield's You Tube channel.

Fleet Town 1-0 Badshot Lea
Fleet edged a tight game to tale all thee point s for the first time since beating Woodley in early October, thanks to a goal from Layla Drury. It was Badshot Lea's third league defeat on the bounce since beating Sholing away at the end of November.

Reading 1-0 Wycombe Wanderers
Just over a month on from being the first team to take a point off Wycombe this season, Reading went one better, ending Wycombe's year-long unbeaten league record. Level at the break, The Royals hit the front after 62 minutes through Jasmine King. They then held the Premier League's most prolific forward line at bay to take the points.
Picture
Abingdon United Development 1-1 Slough Town
Slough came very close to bouncing back from last week's defeat at Larkspur with a win, after Nikita Sangha gave them the lead at Abingdon. However, they were denied all three points by an added time equaliser from Ellie Owen. Photographer Sinead Thompson captured the action.

Chesham United Development 4-0 Ascot United Reserves
Chesham hit two goals in each half to take all the points at home to Ascot. Sophie Bishop was on the mark in the 25th and 40th minute to make it 2-0 at the break, Bishop them completed her hat-trick just past the hour mark, with Charlotte Grosso adding a fourth just three minutes later.

Larkspur Rovers 3-0 Oxford United Development
Rovers jumped into second spot, level on points with Denham, albeit having played three additional games. Kalina Georgieva had them in front at the break. Just past the hour Calleigh Wright made it with top scorer Savana Fearon adding the third on 75 minutes. It was a second consecutive 3-0 win for Larkspur. Oxford had Tilly Anthony sent off after picking up 2 yellows.

Penn & Tylers Green 5-3 Tilehurst Panthers

Tara Woodward hit a hat-trick for Penn, adding to the five she scored last week. Ellie Lovelock and Shannon Read added the other two for the home side, who are now in fourth, just three points off top spot and with games in hand over the second and third placed teams. Tilehurst's response came from Deanna Cane and two more from top scorer Leah Why. Watch all of the goals here.
Picture
Guernsey 1-2 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
The Green Lionesses slumped to their fourth defeat in the last five games after Hollie Keating hit a 90th minute winner for Harlequins. Charlotte Eastman had put the visitors ahead early on only for Codie Le Flem to level things up on the stroke of half-time.

Wimborne Town 3-1 Shaftesbury
Two Sheree Bell-Jack goals, her 7th and 8th of the season, put The Magpies two ahead. However, Shaftesbury hit back through Nicola Castle just before the break. Wimborne finally sealed the points six minutes from time when Tiara Cheney struck their third.
Picture
AFC Bournemouth 4-0 Sholing
Sholing bowed out of the county cup against a strong AFC Bournemouth side. Bournemouth's reward is a trip to Winchester City Flyers in the next round.

AFC Stoneham 0-3 Winchester City Flyers
After a goalless and tight first half, Flyers took control of the game when Chelsie Hay gave them the lead in the 50th minute. Emma Whitlock doubled the advantage on 65 minutes before Shayne Prasad sealed progress twelve minutes later. Flyers now take on AFC Bournemouth at home in the quarter-final. You can read the match report on the Flyers web site.

Andover New Street 0-2 Farnborough
A first half own goal and an Eliza Andrews strike deep into second half added time, saw Farnborough knock their Southern Division rivals out of the county cup. Borough will now face Southampton FC PGA in the next round.

Bournemouth Sports 1-1 (p7-6) Southampton Women
Liane Folkenstern put the National League side ahead in this game, but The Sirens hit back in the second half through Lucy Mear, sending the game into a penalty shootout. Sports edged the shootout with a 7-6 sudden death win. Sports will now travel to league rivals Havant & Waterlooville in the quarter-final. Read the match report from Southampton here.

Bursledon 0-13 AFC Portchester
Portchy went to town at lower-ranked Bursledon, smashing in an unlucky 13 for the Dons. Layla Morgan, April Hill and Becky Bath all hit hat-tricks. Lauren Aitken grabbed a brace and there were also goals for Lucy Nightingale and Charmaine True. Portchester now face a trip to national League side Moneyfields in the quarter-final.

Havant & Waterlooville 2-1 AFC Varsity
The Hawks progressed to the quarter-final courtesy of goals from Jodie Burchell and Emma-Jane May. Varsity hit back through top scorer Kayleigh Mackay, but couldn't prevent the home side booking a home date with Bournemouth Sports.

Farnham Town 6-1 Denham United
This eagerly awaited clash between two sides with a 100% league record went the way of the team from the south. Emily Foss gave the hosts an early lead which was doubled by Rachael Manley. However, a well take Brogan Moore goal had Denham back in the mix, until Rebecca Price made it 3-1 before the break. United had captain Lauren Cox sent off in the second half, allowing Farnham to take full advantage of the numbers. Emily Foss once more and two more for Rebecca Price, wrapping up her hat-trick, sent Town through. Read about it in the BotP match blog (North South Divide), and match the highlights from Farnham's X feed.

Fixtures - Sunday 25 January 2026

Picture

Reading v Beaconsfield Town

Fresh from ending Wycombe's year-long unbeaten run, The Royals welcome third laced Beaconsfield to Arbour Park. When the teams net at Holloways Park, back in September, a late Katie Riddington goal secured the points for The Rams. Reading currently sit five points behind their visitors, but have three games in hand.
Arbour Park, SL2 5AY

Wycombe Wanderers v Fleet Town
When Wanderers lost their 100% record a few weeks back, their response was to nine past Beaconsfield. Fleet will be wary of a similar response in the Wycombe's first game after losing their unbeaten run. Fleet will also want to gain some kind of revenge for the 11-1 thrashing handed out by Wycombe in the reverse fixture in early September.
18i78 Stadium, SL1 8JG
Picture
Larkspur Rovers v Abingdon United Development
With leaders Denham in Chairman's Cup action, both of these team's could take over at the top on Sunday. Larkspur need just a point to take over, Abingdon would need all three points. Rovers have won their last two home league games by a 3-0 score line. United have won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three. This is their first meeting this season.
Lord Halsbury Memorial Playing Fields, UB5 5FE

Penn & Tylers Green v Farnborough
Two sides in pretty good recent form. Penn have won their last three, Farnborough have won two and drawn one. A win for Penn would take them level on points with Denham, albeit having played two more games. Farnborough, currently ninth, have only played six league games so far, although one of them was the reverse fixture at home to Penn, which ended 3-1 to the away side.
French School Meadow, HP10 8LG
Picture
Bemerton Heath Harlequins v Andover New Street
Despite the fact that Andover put eight unanswered goals past Harlequins in the reverse fixture, they find themselves four places and four points below their hosts this weekend. However, New Street do have two games in hand. A win for Quins would lift them over Wimborne into second place.
Shrewton Recreation Ground, SP3 4JU

Farnham Town v AFC Varsity
This will be the third meeting between these sides this season, but Varsity won't particularly want to be reminded of the previous two games. Early on Farnham beat the 9-1 in the FA Cup whilst the reverse league meeting at Hatches Farm ended 8-4 to Town.
Memorial Ground, GU9 7DY

Guernsey v Bournemouth Sports Reserves
It's now seven without a win for Guernsey, who have hit a bad patch after a great start to the season. Sports have been up and down, winning one, drawing one and losing one of their last three. The reverse fixture, back in early September, ended all-square with Isobel Weatherly hit a first-half hat-trick for Sports.
Victoria Avenue, Guernsey GY2 4BB
Picture
Southampton Women v AFC Portchester
A delayed third round tie, with a trip to Farnham Town for the victors. They've already met at Southampton in the league. Spoils were shared that day thanks to a late Becky Bath equaliser for Portchy. Note that this game is being played at Portchester (source; FA Full-time)
Venue: AFC Portchester Womens
Picture
Badshot Lea v Tilehurst Panthers
Both of these teams have lost their last three league games, so a break for the Chairman's Cup is probably something they'll both be happy to take. The Baggies are yet to take a league point at home, but have won here in the FA Cup.
Westfield Lane, Wrecclesham GU10 4PF

Bursledon v Shaftesbury
The first of a double-header between these two, with a league encounter scheduled for the following Sunday, both to be played at the home of The Dons. The scheduled league game at Coppice Street was postponed back in November, so this is their first meeting of the season.
Priory Park, SO32 1SQ

Denham United v AFC Stoneham
Another test against a team from the south for Denham. After Sunday's county cup exit at Farnham, United venture a little further south to take on The Purps. Denham's only defeat at The Den this season came in a League Cup clash with Premier League Winchester, which they lost 3-2.
Memorial Ground, GU9 7DY

Havant & Waterlooville v Ascot United Reserves
Another south versus north encounter as The Hawks welcome Ascot to the south coast. Ascot have already faced Havant's league-mates Farnham in the League Cup, losing 5-1 back in December.
Westleigh Park, Havant PO9 5TH

Kidlington Youth v Sholing
Division One North bottom side Kidlington face a tough test as Premier League Sholing come to town. However, The Boatwomen do not travel too well, losing six of their seven away league encounters so far. Kidlington are yet to pick up a league win but do have a county cup semi-final, against Barton United, to look forward to.
Yarnton Road, OX5 1AT

Wimborne Town v Oxford City
With just one defeat in six, Wimborne are a side in good current form. In the same period, City have won twice, but have lost their last two games. Town's focus is probably their continued chase of Farnham Town, but a Premier League cup scalp would be a great boost. City, beaten in last year's final, will be looking to go one better this year.
Wyatt Homes Stadium, BH21 2FU

Woodley United v Chesham United Development
Still looking for their first league win, Woodley take on Division One North side Chesham United Development, who two of their last three in the league, after a shaky start. Woodley have already gone out of the League Cup to lower league opposition, so will be very wary of this potential banana skin.

The second game of the weekend saw BotP heading south for a much-awaited clash of two teams with 100% league records. Farnham Town and Denham United sit proudly atop their respective tables, Southern Region Division 1 South and North respectively. Both have played eight games and won all eight. However, this London FA Capital Cup clash was a chance for them to pit their wits against each other. Both teams have been scoring goals for fun all season and both have tight defences. All in all, this promised to be a fascinating game.
Both teams progressed through to Round Two by means of 4-1 away wins. Farnham beat Denham's league-mates, Larkspur Rovers, with Francesca Thornton notching a brace, along with goals from Ieasha Swaby and Rachael Manley. Although, top scorer Swaby was not in the squad for today's game. Denham's victory came at The Old Spotted Dog Ground, as they put out Clapton Community of the London & South East Division One North.

PictureDenham on the attack
Leading scorer or no leading scorer, Farnham took this game by the scruff of the neck early on. Only just over two minutes were on the click when Rachael Manley was sent clear on the right. her square ball found captain Emily Foss who took a touch before firing low past Sofia Harris. 1-0
The tone of the game was firmly set in the seventh minute when Farnham centre-half Emilie Miller and Denham midfielder Liana Horwood went into a crunching 50/50 challenge. Nothing untoward about the tackles, just pure commitment.
Miller had to limp off for a minute but was soon back int the thick of it. Just in time to see her team go two goals up. Rebecca Price, wide on the left, did the damage this time, beating her marker and driving forward before playing in Foss. Her shot was initially dealt with by Sofia Harris but the keeper could only push the ball out into the path of Rachael Manley, who slipped it back past her into the net. 2-0
Two minutes later, with Farnham smelling blood, Foss almost made it three, but her dipping drive was just off the mark, and that gave the visitors the opportunity they needed as they broke forward down the right. The ball pulled back into the path of Brogan Moore who, without breaking stride, stroked the ball perfectly into the bottom corner. 2-1
Farnham's response? Well, they just went up the other end and, within six minutes. restored their two goal advantage. Francesca Thornton with the precision pass to set up Rebecca Price, who made no mistake. 3-1
Back came Denham. Two minutes after going two down, they worked an opening for Daisy Baranowski with a  diagonal ball that found the winger alone inside the left corner of the box. However, her shot was straight at Mya Francis-Pownall and the chance was lost. The visitor's were clearly not going to just sit back though and, just on the half-hour Niamh Cashin worked herself a yard deep inside the penalty area. Just as she was about to pull the trigger on what looked like a certain goal, Francesca Thornton appeared from nowhere to make a crucial block. A proper body on the line tackle that left the Town midfielder down and needing attention. once again, much like Miller earlier, the Farnham player was soon back on the pitch.
The clear-cut chances dried up a little at this point, as both sides took a bit of a breather after a manic first half-hour. Laura Comerford did try her luck late on, but couldn't quite hit the target and pretty soon the referee drew a close to the first-half.

HT Farnham Town 3 Denham United 1. A no holds barred affair with both teams showing commitment across the park, Every ball contested, every tackle full throttle. Two very good footballing sides who were also happy to roll their sleeves up and battle it out. A fabulous watch so far. Farnham holding sway at the break but Denham far from out of it.

PictureFarnham go close
If Farnham had started the first=half quickly, Denham matched that in the second, pushing their hosts back from the first whistle. With only a minute gone, Francis-Pownall was sold a little short with a back pass that had the keeper flying into a 50/50 with Denham strike Niamh Cashin. As with every other tackle, neither was going to pull out but it was the Denham player who came off worse. She tried to continue for a few minutes but was eventually forced to limp off leaving both teams without their top scorer on the pitch.
That didn't stop Denham from coming very close to pulling a goal back, Francis-Pownall forced to throw herself full-stretch to the right to tip a shot around the post. For a neutral, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Denham had pulled one back during those opening minutes because, just past the hour, they were effectively out of the game, and it was of their own doing. Following another midfield 50/50 between Francesca Thornton and Lauren Cox, the Denham captain aimed a kick at Thornton as the players got up. The referee saw it and had no option than to pull out a red card. No complaints and no excuses from Denham.
The sending off and the loss of Cashin meant that Denham needed to re-arrange things. Sofia Harris came out from between he sticks and went up front, Jo Torr took over in goal.
Of course, there was a little more space on the pitch for Farnham now and, 78 minutes in, Rebecca Price took full advantage, turning her marked and driving into the box at before firing low and hard past Torr into the far corner. 4-1. Denham were tiring now. Two minutes after the fourth, Farnham struck again. Price the provider this time, breaking down the right before setting up Emily Foss, who finished calmly. 5-1
To their credit, Denham were still trying to push forward and, if they'd had a full complement, may well have pulled one back on 84 minutes. Francis-Pownall spilled Moore's drive but no-ne was close enough to take advantage, allowing Farnham to clear the danger.
Racheal Manley then had a chance to grab her second after being put through on goal. However, Torr stood firm, making an excellent block. Unfortunately, for the stand-in keeper, she was helpless a minute later when Rebecca Price danced around a challenge before slotting in her hat-trick. 6-1

FT Farnham Town 6 Denham United 1. What a great game of football to watch. The level of commitment form both teams was exceptional. Although Farnham were already 3-1 up, the red card had a big influence on the game, coming when Denham were looking capable of getting back into the game.
These are two very good teams. Both can play excellent football, and both can battle it out when necessary. If you want to catch them in action, and I seriously encourage you to do so, they are both back in action next weekend.
Farnham take on AFC varsity at The Mem. The teams have already met twice this season, with Farnham winning both. A 9-1 home FA Cup win back in September and an 8-4 away league win. Meanwhile, Denham face another North versus South clash as they welcome AFC Stoneham to The Den in The Chairman's Cup.

SoReg Review (25/26) - Edition 19 - A Year In The Making

14/1/2026

Two milestones were passed on Sunday. Shaftesbury finally got a point on the board (three to be exact), after beating Andover New Street, and Wycombe Wanderers made it an entire year since they lost a league game.
Southampton, Winchester, Beaconsfield and Portchester (who clocked up double figures) all won to keep the pressure on the Premier League leaders. In the North, Penn were the big winners, coming from behind to put seven past Kidlington. BotP was at Larkspur to see them beat Slough Town (A Double At The Rovers), and Chesham also won, 3-2 at Oxford. Farnham retained their 100% record in the south, Havant and Guernsey drew 0-0, whilst there were wins for Bursledon and, of course, Shaftesbury.

Results - Sunday 11th January 2026

Picture
AFC Portchester 10-1 Badshot Lea
In their first league game for nearly two months, Portchy let rip on Badshot Lea clocking up double figures. However, the result does not lift them up in the table after wins for Beaconsfield and Southampton. Charmaine True, April Hill and Kim Fuller all scored twice, with Sophie Bell, Becky Bath, Millie Bradbury and a own goal making it ten. Charlotte Keenan grabbed the consolation for The Baggies, who remain three points above the drop zone. Take a look at the match action photos courtesy of Dave Haines.

Oxford City 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers
A Jess Watkins penalty and a Kyla Potter strike put Wycombe two in front inside the opening 16 minutes. City pulled a goal back on 65 minutes, through Ellie White, but Wanderers held tight for the three points. It's now a year since Wycombe last lost a league game, home or away. Read the match report on the Wycombe web site and watch the goals on X.

Reading 2-3 Winchester City Flyers
Reading took a one goal lead into the half-time break thanks to Tyra Wilson's 42nd minute goal. However, Flyers were back on level terms three minutes after the restart thanks to Chelsie Hay. Just past the hour, Hay scored her second to give Flyers the lead. Emma Whitlock made it 3-1 on 86 minutes and, despite an added time goal from Nat Cowell, Flyers took the points back to Hampshire and stayed in second spot. Watch Chelsie Hay's goals and Emma Whitlock's third goal. Listen to Shayne Prasad and Emma Pearmine's post match thoughts.

Sholing 3-5 Beaconsfield Town
After a couple of heavy defeats, Beaconsfield returned to winning ways, coming from behind twice. Sophie Elmes and Danielle O'Leary put The Boatwomen 2-0 up inside 18 minutes. However, Alix Todd pulled a goal back just before the break, before Evie Bloxham-Phillips levelled the scores a minute after half-time. Elmes then restored Sholing's lead, only for Mia Parkin to equalise on 67 minutes. Henna Hussain then took over the show, scoring two goals in four minutes to seal the points for The Rams. Listen to post-match comments of Rams boss Brian Harris and watch the goals here.

Southampton 4-2 Woodley United
The Sirens had to come from a goal down twice in this game as Woodley gave them an early shock. Sumayah Zayadi put United in front after 6 minutes only for Liv Glover to level it 10 minutes later. However, Summer Major put the visitors back in front, a lead they held until just before the break, when Isobel Conti equalised again. Three minutes after the restart Emily Wilson put the hosts ahead for the first time and when Lucy Mear added a fourth, the points were sealed.

Picture
Kidlington Youth 1-7 Penn & Tylers Green
Kidlington's miserable season continued at the hands of a rampant Penn side at Yarnton Road, despite taking the lead through a superb Kiera Isaac strike. The League's leading scorer, Tara Woodward, helped herself to five more goals, two in the first half and a hat-trick in the second. Interspersed between Woodward's goals, Ellie Lovelock added two more to her tally. Watch the highlights courtesy of Penn's Facebook feed.

Larkspur Rovers 3-0 Slough Town
BotP had the pleasure of watching this game (A Double At The Rovers). Two very hard-working sides who put on a good show in difficult conditions. In a tight first half, a Shivani Bedi goal was the only difference. However a blistering start to the second half saw Rovers take control with goals from Savana Fearon and Ashleigh Kinsey. Even the dismissal of Charlotte Workman, on 78 minutes, couldn't stop the home side taking the points.

Oxford City Development 2-3 Chesham United Development
After defeat to Farnborough before Christmas, Chesham returned to winning ways against an Oxford side looking to capitalise on their defeat of Kidlington before the winter break. However, goals from Megan Fillary and Faith Kingdon, were not enough for the Hoops as Ruby Slade, in the first half, and late goals from Bo Edwards and Amy Gunn, saw the points heading back to Buckinghamshire.

Tilehurst Panthers P-P Farnborough
Picture
Havant & Waterlooville 0-0 Guernsey
The Green Lionesses halted a run of three defeats with a valuable point at Havant, the teams first-ever goalless draw. A very tight encounter saw the points shared, lifting both teams up in the league. Guernsey went from seventh to sixth, whilst The Hawks jumped from sixth to fourth after defeats for Bemerton and Andover.

AFC Varsity P-P Bournemouth Sports Reserves

Bursledon 4-2 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
The Dons blasted Bemerton with four goals in a ten minute spell either side of half-time. Laura Barton opened the scoring on 40 minutes with Rosina Folkes adding a second just before the break. Two minutes into the second period, Isobel Pouncy made it three before Folkes added her second on 50 minutes. Harlequins staged a mini-comeback through Paige Brazier, after 65 minutes, and Hollie Keating on the stroke of full-time, but it wasn't enough to stop the home side taking the points.

Farnham Town 2-0 Wimborne Town
Wimborne's five wins on the bounce came to an end as Farnham maintained their 100% record in the league. The Magpies held the leaders until ten minutes into the second half when two goal in three minutes, the first from Emily Foss, the second from Echo Barrett, secured the points for Town. Watch the highlights here.

Shaftesbury 2-1 Andover New Street
What a way for Shaftesbury to start the new year. In their ninth league outing of the season they not only picked up their first points, but also their first win. Two first half goals from Fleur Dixon and Katie Marshallsay were enough to give Shaftesbury the points, despite Imogen Mullins pulling a goal back for New Street.

Abingdon United Development P-P Fleet Town

Fixtures - Sunday 18th January 2026

Picture
Beaconsfield Town v Woodley United
Woodley remain at the bottom of the table, but their three games in hand on Badshot Lea gives them hope of getting out of trouble. However, they make the journey to Beaconsfield still looking for their first win of the season. The Rams had a good win at Sholing at the weekend, and will be looking to replicate their 6-0 win at Bulmershe Pavilion back in November.
Holloways Park, HP9 2SE

Fleet Town v Badshot Lea
The Baggies need to put their heavy defeat at Portchester out of their minds as they take on local rivals Fleet on Sunday. Town are two places and six points above Badshot Lea, having played two fewer games. The reverse fixture ended in a 4-0 win for Fleet
Crookham Road, GU51 5FA

Reading v Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe take their unbeaten league records to the only team who have taken points off them this season. Reading drew 0-0 at Wycombe at the start of December. However, Sunday's home defeat to Winchester saw Reading slip to sixth place.
Arbour Park, SL2 5AY
Picture
Abingdon United Development v Slough Town
United are still hanging on to second spot in the table but have Larkspur and Penn breathing down their neck now. Slough, who lost at Larkspur on Sunday (A Double At The Rovers), will be looking to avenge the 2-1 home defeat suffered to Abingdon earlier in the season.
The Northcourt, OX14 1PL

Chesham United Development v Ascot United Reserves
A first meeting of the season between these two. Ascot are just one place and three points above bottom side Kidlington, albeit with a game in hand. They'll be looking to put some distance between themselves and the doted line. Chesham got back to winning ways on Sunday with a 3-2 win at Oxford.
Chiltern Hills Academy, HP5 2RG

Larkspur Rovers v Oxford United Development
Rovers, who beat Slough 3-0 at the weekend (A Double At The Rovers), are just a point off second placed Abingdon, with a game in hand. However, they did lose the reverse fixture to this game 4-1 in September. That was Oxford's last win before going on a run of six defeats, ended with a 3-2 defeat of Kidlington Before Christmas.
Lord Halsbury Memorial Playing Field, UB5 5FE

Penn & Tylers Green v Tilehurst Panthers
Two more sides meeting for the first time this season. Panthers have only played once since mid-November and that was a 2-1 defeat at home to Slough. Both teams are catching up on league fixtures having only played eight and seven respectively. Penn won last season's corresponding fixture 5-1 and had Lydia Vettese (now at Beaconsfield) sent off.
French School Meadow, HP10 8LG
Picture
Guernsey v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
This will be the first meeting between these sides, who are tied together on 14 points in the middle of the table. Harlequins, however, have played a game fewer then their hosts. Quins have scored twice in each of their last three games but have only taken one point. The Green Lionesses will be looking to Codie Le Flem to keep up her goal scoring after scoring twice in the last three.
Victoria Avenue, GY2 4BB

Wimborne Town v Shaftesbury
Although these two have not yet met in the league, they have faced each other in the FA Cup. The game, played at Wimborne, ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, with Wimborne going through 3-0 in the penalty shootout. Shaftesbury will be hoping that last week's defeat of Andover was the start of a good run. Wimborne will be looking to get back to winning ways after going down at Farnham.
Wyatt Homes Stadium, BH21 2FU
Picture
AFC Bournemouth v Sholing
A very tough task ahead for Sholing as they attempt to bridge a two division gap against National Southern premier Division leaders AFC Bournemouth. The Cherries are unbeaten across all competitions this season and still fighting on four fronts, including the FA Cup, in which they face Manchester City, which is scheduled for the same day as this game. Both games still show as 'on' in FA Full-Time currently.
Venue: AFC Bournemouth Women

AFC Stoneham v Winchester City Flyers
Flyers make the short journey down to Eastleigh to face Southern Division high-flyers AFC Stoneham. Both teams come into the game in good form. The Purps have won their last three, a run going back to early November. Winchester, meanwhile, are on a run of five consecutive victories in all competitions and sit second in the Premier League.
Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh SO16 2PA

Andover New Street v Farnborough
After losing to Shaftesbury last Sunday, Andover will be looking to get back to winning ways as Farnborough pay a visit to Foxcotte Park. Farnborough's only defeat since September came at Premier League Winchester City Flyers in the League Cup, a competition that had already see them knock out New Street's league-mates Bursledon.
Foxcotte Park, SP11 0TA

Bournemouth Sports v Southampton Women
These teams were in the same division last season. The Sirens suffered relegation whilst Sports finished two places above them. Both are in a better place this season. Sports midway in the National League South-West and Southampton third in the Southern Region Premier. They met three times last season, Sports drew at Southampton in the league and won the home tie. However, Southampton beat Sports 1-0 at home in the League Cup.
Chapel Gate, BH23 6BL

Bursledon v AFC Portchester
Portchester earned promotion to the Premier League the same season that Bursledon were promoted into Division One South, so they have not shared a division since the 2022-23 season, when both were in the Hampshire County League. The Dons have been picking up a few points recently, winning two of their last three in the league. Portchy, after their FA Cup exploits, got back into league action by putting 10 past Badshot Lea last weekend.
Priory Park, SO32 1SQ

Havant & Waterlooville v AFC Varsity
Division One South league-mates, Havant and Varsity, come face to face for the third time this season. The previous two league meetings have been tight affairs. Havant won 1-0 at Varsity in October thanks to Emma-Jane May's goal. The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.
Westleigh Park, PO9 5TH

Farnham Town v Denham United
This promises to be the game of the week. Both teams have 100% league records after eight games each and have similar scoring record. Denham just about have the edge there, having scored four more than Farnham and conceded one fewer. Both have four players in the top 11 scorers in their respective leagues. This is going to be a fascinating tussle and BotP will, all being well, be there to witness it.

A Double At The Rovers

Thankfully the weather held out enough for this Sunday's chosen Southern Region game to be one. However, as I headed down the M40, the skies were getting darker and the rain a little heavier, so I was also prepared to divert over to a 3G game if necessary. Luckily, upon arriving at the Lord Halsbury Memorial Playing Field, I could see both teams warming up. Game on! I was looking forward to not only visiting a new ground, but also getting to see two teams I had not yet had the pleasure of watching. The game in question, a Division One North clash between Larkspur Rovers and Slough Town. Both teams had been in pretty good form of late, so it promised to be a good game. Rovers, despite league defeat at home to leaders Denham (their only league defeat at home), had recently had a couple of good League Cup results, putting out Shaftesbury and Andover New Street. They started the day in third spot, just six points behind the leaders. Slough had recently taken Premier League Beaconsfield to penalties in the League Cup, and won their last league outing, 2-1 at Tilehurst. They began the day in fifth spot, three points behind Larkspur, but having played three more games.
The reverse fixture, in October, ended 2-0 to Rovers, with both goals scored by top scorer Savana Fearon

PictureEarly Slough attack
After a few minutes of initial jousting between the teams, it was the home side who got off the first real strike in anger when Polina Avramova was played in. However, Maisie Buckley, in the Slough goal, made a good stop, which was to become the first of many later in the game.
Neither team was managing to get any fluid play together, not helped by the conditions and a gusty wind blowing across the pitch. Heading towards the midway point, both teams traded freekicks on target. Former Beaconsfield Town player, Sarah Davern, tested out Violet Wilmott and Shani Minors kept Buckley on her toes at the other end. However, a goal was not looking likely at either end until the half-hour mark, when Rovers took the lead. Buckley pushed away an initial effort, but when the ball dropped to Shavani Bedi inside the box, the Larkspur number 10 made no mistake with a low drive that Buckley couldn't keep out. 1-0
The goal gave Rovers that extra yard and they came close to doubling their lead nine minutes later when Savana Fearon was set loose on the right side of the box, before striking a first-time effort that was only narrowly over the bar. As we approached the half-time break, Minors found Fearon with a tremendous through, curled inside the defender with the outside of her foot. Fearon sent over a low cross for Bedi, running in at the far post, but her shot screwed wide of the target. Then, right on the whistle, Buckley produced a superb one-handed reaction save, down low to her right, to keep the score at 1-0.

HT Larkspur Rovers 1 Slough Town 0. A tight game between two fairly evenly matched sides. Rovers created more chances then their visitors, but Slough did enough to suggest that the game was still in the balance.

PictureShani Minors tries her luck
The second half began in the same manner as the first ended, with Buckley pulling off another excellent save, this time keeping out Fearon and then getting up quickly to cling onto Bedi's follow-up effort.
The home side had come out of the blocks fast after the break and, nine minutes in, they extended their lead. Calleigh Wright shaped a delightful freekick across the face of the Slough goal, perfect for Savana Fearon to volley in on the stretch, at the far post. 2-0.
A minute later, Fearon turned provider, but Kalina Georgieva's show flew just wide. However, a minute before the hour, Rovers went three up. Fearon played a ball in behind the Slough defence, for Ashleigh Kinsey to run onto. The Rovers substitute was second favourite to get to the ball, but brilliantly managed to get a toe in front of the defender, to poke the ball past the advancing Buckley and into the far corner. 3-0
With the game effectively in the bag, Larkspur took their foot off the pedal a little at this point. Slough substitute Taylor Spence had a glimpse of goal and let fly, but dragged her effort wide of the mark. Then former Woodley strike Sajunae Turner, also on as substitute, hit the target from distance only for Wilmott to make a comfortable stop.
With 12 minutes of normal time remaining, Larkspur contrived to make the game slightly more difficult, when they were reduced to ten. Charlotte Workman, only just reintroduced to replace Fearon, was pulled up for an offence in the centre of the park. Initially the referee appeared to issue a yellow and a sin-bin. However, as Workman left the pitch she had more comments to make to the referee, who promptly produced the red card.
If the incident had happened earlier int he game, Rovers could have had a problem but, as it was, they managed to see out the remainder of the game without too many issues. Spence went close again with a few minutes remaining, but all in all, they managed the game well, even a player light. Fittingly, the last piece of real action saw Buckley make yet another save, this time from Kinsey. The Slough stopper may have conceded three goals, but had also produced a number of very good saves along the way.

FT Larkspur Rovers 3 Slough Town 0. Even with a player light for the final 15 minutes, Larkspur had already done enough to ensure all three points. The damage was really done in the opening minutes of the second period, where the home side were absolutely dominant, scoring twice and effectively killing off the game and completeing the double over their visitors.
The result keeps Larkspur in third spot, a point behind Abingdon United Development with a game in hand. Slough slip a place after Chesham won 3-2 at Oxford. Next weekend, Slough travel to Abingdon who won 2-1 at Arbour Park back in November. Larkspur are back at home as Oxford City Development make the visit. Rovers lost 4-1 in the reverse fixture. Both teams will be looking to redress the balance.

Lord Halsbury Playing Fields
The Ground
Larkspur Rovers are based at The Lord Halsbury Memorial Playing Field in Northolt, West London. The ground is accessed via Priors Farm lane and is situated to the rear of the local primary school. There's a good-sized car park at the end of the lane, with the football pitches directly in front. To the right is the clubhouse and changing facilities. Aside from the main pitch, the site also has a small all-weather pitch and several small-side grass pitches. The main pitch, is directly in front of the clubhouse, accessed through a small gate. The playing surface slopes a little from the clubhouse end back toward the A40 in the distance. There's no spectator cover available, but the clubhouse does offer a very cosy spot to warm up before and during half-time. A decent cup of tea too.

SoReg Review (25/26) - Edition 18 - Back Again

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to the first edition of 2026.
There's an almost full league calendar for the first Sunday on the New year, with the exception of one League Cup tie. All three league leaders are still unbeaten with both Farnham Town in the South and Denham United in the North, defending 100% records. United will definitely keep their record for at least one more week, as they don't have a fixture this coming weekend. Meanwhile, the three winless teams, Woodley United, Kidlington Youth and Shaftesbury, will all be looking for a fresh start in 2026.

Fixtures - Sunday 11th January 2026

Picture
AFC Portchester v Badshot Lea
After their glorious FA Cup run and a couple of postponements, Portchester haven't played a league game since mid-November. The Baggies site three points above the relegation zone, but have played more games than bottom side Woodley. These two have met twice already, both at Wrecclesham. Portchy have won both, 3-0 in the league and 4-0 in the League Cup. Lauren Aitken has already scored three against Badshot Lea this season.
Wicor Recreation Ground, PO16 9DP

Oxford City v Wycombe Wanderers
These two are also meeting for the third time this season. Wycombe have won both so far, 3-0 in the league and 6-0 in the League Cup, both games at Burnham. City, after two good wins, lost lats time out, 3-1 at Sholing. Wycombe put nine past Beaconsfield in their last game which came on the back of them dropping points for the first time this season with a goalless draw at home to Reading.
Marsh Lane, OX3 0NQ

Reading v Winchester City Flyers
The Royals take to the field again for the first time since their abandoned game at home to Southampton. Here's hoping that Keren Banduka is continuing to recover well. Flyers are currently in second spot and on a run of four straight wins in all competitions, one of which was the 3-1 home victory over Reading in November. That game had an incredible ending with three goals scored after the 88th minute.
Arbour Park, SL2 5AY

Sholing v Beaconsfield Town
The Christmas break probably came at a good time for The Rams, who suffered two heavy defeats in the run-up to the holidays. They'll be looking to replicate the reverse fixture result in which they won 3-1 with two goals from Henna Hussain. Sholing managed to stop a bad run last time out, beating Oxford City 3-1 at The MDS.
The Mortgage Decisions Stadium, SO19 9PW

Southampton v Woodley United
Woodley are still looking for their first win of the season as they make the trip south to face third-placed Southampton. United were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Sholing last time out. Depending on other results, they could possibly get out of the drop zone with a win. The Sirens beat Fleet 5-1 towards the end of November but, last time out, saw their game abandoned after a medical emergency.
Test Park, SO16 9QZ
Picture
Kidlington Youth v Penn & Tylers Green
Three points adrift at the bottom, Kidlington will be looking to get the New Year off to a better start than the way 2025 ended. Penn, however, won last time out and will be looking to make a dent in Denham's lead at the top. The reverse fixture ended in a 5-0 win for Penn, a game that saw Ellie Lovelock score four of the goals.
Yarnton Road, OX5 1AT

Larkspur Rovers v Slough Town
Rovers are currently sitting in third spot, six points off top spot. However, they did lose their last league outing when they went down at home to leaders Denham. Slough have hit a patch of very good form recently, winning four of their last six games. Rovers won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in October.
Lord Halsbury Playing Field, UB5 5FE

Oxford City Development v Chesham United Development

City's last game before the break saw them finally win after losing six on the bounce., including the reverse of this fixture, in which Chesham won 5-1. United lost their last outing 4-2 at Farnborough. Only a single point separates the teams, who have played the same number of games.
Venue: Oxford City Development

Tilehurst Panthers v Farnborough
Two points split Tilehurst in 7th from 9th placed Farnborough, although Borough have played a game fewer. Farnborough won lats time out, beating Chesham 4-2. Panthers were beaten 2-1 at home by Slough Town. This is the first meeting between the teams this season.
The Rivermoor, Scours Lane, Reading, RG30 6AY
Picture
Havant & Waterlooville v Guernsey
After a really good start to the season Guernsey have now lost their last three games, slipping down to 7th spot. Two of these games, however, were against runaway leaders Farnham Town. The Hawks have not played since their 4-1 defeat at Stoneham in mid-November. This will be the first meeting between the teams.
Westleigh Park, Havant PO9 5TH

AFC Varsity v Bournemouth Sports Reserves
One place and one point separates Sports, in 9th, and Varsity a place below them. However, with the table being so congested, three points for either team could see them jump three places or more. Third placed Wimborne are only 3 points above Sports. The reverse fixture was won 1-0 by Varsity back in September. BotP had the pleasure of being present (Sports Suffer From Kayjà Vu)
Hatches Farm Sports Ground, SO51 6EA

Bursledon v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
After a precious win in Guernsey, Bursledon then lost to Wimborne last time out, leaving them second from bottom. Harlequins have had an up and down season, but are currently sitting in fourth spot. The teams met on the opening day at Western Way, Quins scoring in each half to run out 2-0 winners.
Priory Park, SO32 1SQ

Farnham Town v Wimborne Town
Town are five points clear at the top and are still defending a 100% league record after seven straight wins. However, The Magpies are a team in form, having won their last five games to leave them in third spot, six points adrift o the leaders. The reverse fixture, played in October before Wimborne hit their winning streak, ended in a 7-0 win for Farnham, including a hat-trick for Iesha Swaby.
Memorial Ground, GU9 7DY

Shaftesbury v Andover New Street
Bottom side Shaftesbury are still looking for their first point but did win their last game, a 5-0 county cup defeat of Wimborne's Development team. New Street have suffered a recent small blip and will be looking to get back to winning ways. The reverse fixture ended 4-0 to Andover.
Coppice Street, SP7 8PD
Picture
Abingdon United Development v Fleet Town
Having disposed of Tilehurst Panthers in the last round, Abingdon get a chance to test themselves against Premier League Fleet Town. Fleet got through the last round on penalties after being held 1-1 by Wimborne Town. Both last their last game of 2025, although in Fleet's case, this was back in November.

Welcome to the final edition of SoReg Review for 2025.
This week saw the last SoReg side, AFC Portchester, go out of the FA Cup but not before setting all sorts of club records along the  way. In the Premier League Wycombe took out their frustration at losing the 100% record by putting nine past Beaconsfield. Meanwhile, Reading v Southampton was abandoned following a medical emergency. Best wishes go to Reading's Keren Banduka for a swift recovery. Winchester kept up their good form with a 2-1 defeat of Woodley, whilst Sholing got a much needed three points against Oxford City.
Denham roll on in the North, clocking up their 8th win on the bounce. Oxford City Devs won for the first time in six, whilst Slough, Farnborough and Penn all picked up maximums. Farnham's 100% start continued in the South with Stoneham still hot on their tails. Wimborne won again whilst Bournemouth and Bemerton shared the spoils.

Results - Sunday 14th December

Picture
AFC Portchester 0-5 Ipswich Town
Championship side Ipswich Town produced a thoroughly professional performance to finally end Portchester's record-beating Cup run. Prompted by the lively Maddy Early, Lucy O'Brien gave the visitors an early lead. However, Portchy dug in and, despite Town pressure, held out until the 45th minute before Kyra Robertson made it two. After the break Ipswich continued to press forward, scoring quick goals through Rianna Dean and Ruby Seaby, before Earl added a well-deserved goal of her own to round off the scoring. Watch the goals courtesy of the Ipswich X feed and read the BotP match blog (End Of The Road For The Royals)
Picture
Reading A-A Southampton
Game abandoned after 35 minutes with the score at 1-0 to Southampton. Reading player Keren Banduka was involved in a medical incident that led to the players being taken off. Reading has since issued a statement stating that the player has been discharged from hospital and is at home recovering. BotP wishes Keren a speedy and full recovery.

Sholing 3-1 Oxford City
A vital three points for Sholing who had been on a run of five defeats. Claudia Weston got them off to a great start, scoring after just 8 minutes. New signing Danielle O'Leary then added two more, one either side of half-time, to put the Boatwomen three goals clear. Billie Bough-French pulled one back from the spot, who also had Ellie White sent off after picking up two yellows.

Woodley United 1-2 Winchester City Flyers
Bottom side Woodley held off high-flying Winchester for over an hour before two quick-fire Annie Northwood goals, on 65 and 67 minutes, saw them finally fall behind. Caitlin Levy pulled a goal back for United, but it was not enough to prevent them falling to a sixth defeat of the season. Andy Wicks was pitchside to capture the action.

Wycombe Wanderers 9-1 Beaconsfield Town
The Chairgirls lost their 100% record last weekend and took out their frustrations on local rivals Beaconsfield. Jess Watkins slotted home a 9th minute penalty to start the day. Kayla Potter made it two before the break. The Rams pulled one back on 50 minutes through Katie Riddington, but that was quickly cancelled out by a second for Watkins. Cat Beaver then made it four and Laura Hennessy added a fifth. Another penalty, and a third goal in seven minutes, sealed the hat-trick for Jess Watkins. Sophie Schofield added a seventh. Jordanne Hoesli-Atkins then got in on the act, before the ninth goal was added by Chloe Melton. Watch the Wycombe goals here.
Picture
Farnborough 4-2 Chesham United Development
Two late goals helped Farnborough to all three points, after the side's shared four first half goals. Ruby Slade put the visitors ahead but Lily Stride cancelled this out. Slade again, and Ruby Andrews then exchanged goals just before the break. It stayed that way until Laura Quinn-Low put Borough ahead in the 83rd minute and Izabel Woodger sealed the points four minutes later.

Larkspur Rovers 2-5 Denham United
The Denham bandwagon rolls on. This win takes their 100% record to eight league games with 48 goals scored and only 9 conceded. Two more goals for Sofia Harris plus strikes from Niamh Cashin, Annie Hewitt and Brogan Moore were enough to earn the points for United. Larkspur retaliated through late goals from Polina Avramova and top scorer Savana Fearon.

Oxford City Development 3-2 Kidlington Youth
City halted a run of six consecutive league defeats, dating back to early October, with a 3-2 defeat of bottom side Kidlington Youth. Olivia Day, Anna Goddard and Demi Lovatt scored the Oxford goals. Julia Rushmere and Kiera Isaac were on target for The Greens, who are now winless in eight.

Penn & Tylers Green 2-1 Abingdon United Development
After two league defeats on the bounce, Penn got themselves back into winning ways by defeating second-placed Abingdon. Megan Brockwell and Annalise Scott-Green had the home side two to the goods at the break. However, substitute Sasha Scott got one back from Abingdon.

Tilehurst Panthers 1-2 Slough Town
Slough got back to winning ways to move level on points with Panthers. Sajunae Turner put The Rebels in front after just two minutes, a lead they held through half-time and, in fact, for an hour. Leah Why then hit her eleventh of the season to square it up before Daisy Skinner popped up with a 91st minute winner. Watch the Slough goals courtesy of their X feed.
Picture
AFC Stoneham 3-1 AFC Varsity
It's now three wins on the trot for The Purps as they hand in to the coat tails of leaders Farnham Town. Chloe Marshall's 11th minute goal gave them the lead, but Varsity top scorer Kayleigh Mackay levelled the scores just past the half hour. Not to be outdone, Chloe Marshall them scored two more in the second half, completing her hat-trick, to give Stoneham the points.

Bournemouth Sports Reserves 2-2 Bemerton Heath Harlequins
A manic first half hour saw all four goals scored as Sports and Harlequins shared the spoils at Chapel Gate. It all started with Sofia Rodrigues giving Bournemouth a sixth minute lead. Paige Brazier equalised after 15 minutes, but seven minutes later, Emily Phillips put the hosts back in front. Back came Quins, levelling again through Imogen Brady on 28 minutes.

Farnham Town 8-1 Guernsey

Guernsey will be glad to see the back of Farnham this season, as the league leaders made it a total of 14 goals put past the islanders. Town extended their 100% record to seven games with goals from Iesha Swaby and Rachael Manley in the first half. Then, after the break, they went on the rampage. Emily Foss scored four in 15 minutes, including a 9-minute hat-trick. In between those three, Francesca Thornton her fifth of the season. Codie le Flem got a consolation for Guernsey before Echo Barrett chined in with five minutes to go. Watch the action on the Farnahm YouTube channel

Havant & Waterlooville P-P Andover New Street

Wimborne Town 2-1 Bursledon
The Magpies continued their recent winning run with a hard-earned 2-1 defeat of Bursledon, wo remain second from bottom. Ellie Chaffe opened the scoring after 20 minutes, a lead that Wimborne still held at half-time. Ten minutes in the second period, The Dons equalised through Samantha-May Gamble. However, Chaffe was on the mark again late in the game to secure the points.

The next schedules SoReg fixtures are on Sunday January 11th, which will be previewed in the first week of the New Year.
Until then it's time for everyone to take a well-earned breather, recharge and prepare for the season run-in.

End Of The Road For The Royals

15/12/2025

Picture
Another Sunday, another trip South for BotP. However, it was not just another Sunday for AFC Portchester. Having already made club history by knocking out higher-ranked Worthing in the previous round of the FA Cup (Royals Give Worthing The 2nd Half Blues), The Royals were preparing to set their sights on Championship side Ipswich Town in Round Three.
The Tractor Girls have been part of the National League structure for over a decade, progressing through the divisions and gaining promotion to WSL2 (The Championship) at the end of last season. It's fair to say that they've found life in the second tier quite difficult so far, having won just one league game from their opening ten, a 3-2 home defeat of Portsmouth. They did, however, earn a very creditable 1-1 draw at Durham last time out.
Portchester, despite not playing since they beat Worthing, have not lost a game in any competition since the 2-1 home defeat to Beaconsfield back in mid-September, a run of nine games in which they have won seven.

PictureIpswich laying siege to the Portchy goal
Portchester began the game kicking towards the sea end, down the slight slope. However, they quickly found themselves defending quite deeply at the other end, with their visitors pushing them backwards from the off. Ipswich did not begin the game like a team at the bottom of their league. Where there could easily have been a lack of confidence and wariness of the banana skin, The Tractor Girls looked sharp and ready for the challenge. It was quite obvious that this was going to be a very tough assignment for Portchy.
It was, therefore, no great surprise when the visitors took the lead in the fifth minute. Maddy Early drifted past a couple of challenges before finding Lucy O'Brien inside the box. The striker had time to pick her spot, sending the ball into the bottom corner. 0-1
Of course, Portchester had gone behind in the previous round, but this was a different game. Although Worthing took the lead it was against the run of play and it always felt like Portchester would score. Ipswich, on the other hand, were controlling the game.
The Tractor Girls continued to keep Portchy penned in their own half. Millie Bradbury was seeing very little of the ball and, when it did get to her, she was immediately shutdown by the well organised Town back-line.
However, despite their dominance in terms of possession, Ipswich were finding it difficult to increase their lead, and this was in no small way down to the inspired performance of Portchy goalkeeper Shannon Betteridge.
A brave block at the feet of an Ipswich striker was followed, on 17 minutes, by a brilliant double save from Rianna Dean. There was even better to come in the 25th minute when Lucy O'Brien saw her first effort come back off the post and her follow-up superbly tipped over the bar by Betteridge, who appeared to collide with the post in making the save and required a fair bit of treatment, from both medical teams, before she could continue. This injury would eventually see her taken off in the second half. Her opposite number, Laura Hartley, was having a much quitter afternoon having not had a shot to stop.
That said, the banks of orange defenders were still holding off the Town onslaught. Captain Gemma Hillier was fighting for everything in the centre and, across the board, the Portchy players were working incredibly hard against an Ipswich side that were very comfortable on the ball and very assured in their passing.
Town probably should have added to their total on 43 minutes when Dean rounded Betteridge before slamming her effort against the foot of the post. They did, however, still go in two to the good. Right on the stroke of 45 minutes, Ipswich were awarded a free-kick wide on the left. Centre-half Paige Peake too the kick, sending the ball deep towards the far post where Kyra Robertson was able to deftly guide a header back across Betteridge and into the bottom corner. 0-2

HT AFC Portchester 0 Ipswich Town 2. A half dominated by Ipswich but, after their early lead, they did struggle to find the killer touch to get past a battling Portchester defence. The second goal, right on half-time, was a big blow to the home team, who must have been thinking they were going into the break just a goal down.

PictureBetteridge to the rescue again
The second half showed no change in pattern to the first. Ipswich set about their task in the same with the same vigour, Portchester defended with the same tenacity. Eight minutes in the home side were once again grateful to their goalkeeper who was off her line sharply to block a Maddy Early effort at point-blank range. However, there was nothing Betteridge could do ten minutes later, as Ipswich extended their led with a cleverly worked free-kick move. Their Kiwi defender Grace Neville shaped to curl a ball into the box but, instead, slid it down the line for captain Maria Boswell. Her cut-back was slammed into the net on the half-turn by Rianna Dean. 0-3
Effectively the game was sealed, but Ipswich weren't finished and, three minutes later, they conjured another goal. Ruby Seaby picked the ball up 40 yards out on the right wing. Driving infield she then fed Early, who cleverly cut the ball back into the path of Seaby to drive, high, past Betteridge. 0-4
Betteridge, clearly still shaken from the first-half knock, stayed down after the ball fizzed past her. Despite both medical teams coming on again (great credit to Ipswich for helping out both times), the Portchy stopper was unable to continue, leaving the pitch to a thoroughly deserved ovation from both sets of fans.
Former skipper, Eilidh Currie, took over in goal and proceeded to make a couple of decent saves before finally being beaten in the 82nd minute. Maddy Earl, who had been a constant thorn in the Portchester side all game, twisted and turned on the edge of the area, working a small gap before leashing the ball into the top corner past a stunned Currie. 0-5. A very well deserved goal to add to the Town midfielder's excellent overall performance.

FT AFC Portchester 0 Ipswich Town 5. A well controlled and thoroughly professional performance from Ipswich. They took hold of the game early and never gave their hosts a glimpse of a way back into the game. Portchester worked as hard as they possibly could and, I'm sure, will have learned a lot from the experience. There's a three division gap between these two sides and Ipswich certainly made that show. As a team, they had too much for Portchy.
Let's not forget that this was a record-breaking run for Portchester and, yet again, the stadium attendance record was broken, with 446 in attendance. Credit should go to the Ipswich Town supporters, of which there were plenty, who made 320 mile, 6 hour round trip.
Portchester now have to wait until Jan 11 for their next game, a home Premier League clash with Badshot Lea.
Ipswich travel to Sunderland on Sunday in a massive relegation 6-pointer. Sunderland are currently four points and one place above the Tractor Girls.

The big news this week is the build-up to the challenge facing the last remaining SoReg team in the FA Cup. AFC Portchester are preparing to take on Championship side Ipswich Town in what is probably the biggest game in their history. All being well, BotP will be at The OnSite Group Stadium to follow the action.
Meanwhile in domestic matters, Reading became the first side to both stop Wycombe form scoring and take a point from the leaders, and Oxford City got off to a flyer as they won 6-1 at Beaconsfield. Denham won the big clash in the North, maintaining their 100% record. All three surviving games in the South went the way of the away side, and Farnham progressed in the League Cup.

Results - Sunday 7th December

Picture
Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Reading
The Royals became the first team to take league points from Wanderers this season, becoming the first team to prevent Wycombe's prolific strike-force from scoring, into the bargain. The Chairgirls remain top of the pile with a two point lead. Reading are now just four points behind second-placed Southampton, with two games in hand.

Badshot Lea P-P Winchester City Flyers

Beaconsfield Town 1-6 Oxford City
What looked like a close game on paper was transformed by City's blistering opening salvo. Lucy White, Yasmin Edwards and an own goal, saw them race to a 3-0 lead within 9 minutes. Henna Hussain did get one back just before the break, as the Rams rallied. However, an early second-half goal from Kate Parsons set them back again. Ellie White and a late second from Yasmin Edwards, rounded off a great day out for The Hoops. Read the BotP match blog here. (Charitable Rams).

Chesham United Development 7-2 Kidlington Youth
United rallied from an early setback to score five in the first-half. Bo Edwards and Ruby Slade started the fightback after they went a goal down inside 4 minutes. Then Henrietta Cunnison scored a 10-minute hat-trick either side of the midway point of the first half. Edwards and Oana Filip then added two more early in the second half. Julia Rushmere was on target for Kidlington, who remain anchored to the bottom.

Denham United 3-2 Penn & Tylers Green
United continued their 100% start to the league season with what could be a crucial defeat of Penn & Tylers Green. Sofia Harris gave them the lead, but this was cancelled out by Tara Woodward just before the break. Liana Horwood restored the lead from the spot, only for Woodward to equalise again. Another penalty gave Liana Horwood the chance to earn the points and, although her initial save was saved, she follow in to win it.

The Magpies made it four wins on the bounce, scoring three in all four games, with a come-from-behind victory at Harlequins. Imogen Brady put the hosts in front after 20 minutes, only for Georgia Reeks to level the scores 15 minutes later. Ten minutes into the second period, Emilie Regnart gave Town the lead and, just past the hour, Lucy Roberts gave them a 2-goal cushion. Nicola Frier did get one back from Quins, but Wimborne took the points.

Guernsey 1-4 Bursledon
The Green Lionesses suffered their second home defeat of the season as Bursledon put eight points between themselves and the bottom. The home side found themselves two behind at the break thanks to goals from Nikita Rahman and Isobel Pouncy. Codie le Flem then reduced the deficit only for Isobel Pouncey to add two more to complete her hat-trick.

Shaftesbury 3-4 AFC Varsity
A game that sprang into action in the second half after an Eloise Paine goal had sent Varsity in one up at half-time. Chelsie Johnson and Armiee Akpobire then traded goals to leave the visitors 2-1 up. However, Johnson equalised for Shaftesbury, only for Katie Finn to restore the lead on 66 minutes. Kayleigh Mackay made it 4-2 with 13 minutes to go and, despite Nicola Castle getting another back from the hosts, Varsity took the points back to Hampshire.

Farnham Town 5-1 Ascot United Reserves
Farnham made it to the last eight in the League Cup following a comprehensive defeat of Ascot on Sunday. Maya Adams put the hosts in front after 15 minutes, and they were two to the good by half-time. Top scorer Iesha Swaby scored twice after the break, before Emily Foss made it 5-0. Ascot pulled a goal back near full-time, but it was too little, too late.

Portchy v Ipswich (AFC Portchester X Feed)
AFC Portchester v Ipswich Town
It's fair to say that this is AFC Portchester's biggest game in their history. The FA Cup Third Round for the first time and they are up against a team from the Championship. Portchy showed their determination, coming from behind against higher-ranked Worthing in Round Two. (Royals Give Worthing The 2nd Half Blues). Ipswich are currently bottom of the Championship, having won once in ten league outings. Last season they went out at the 4th Round stage, losing 3-0 to Manchester City.

Reading v Southampton
Reading came from a goal down to beat The Sirens 3-1 at Test Park back in September. Theis was Southampton's first defeat of the season. The Sirens have not lost at home since and currently occupy second spot, two points behind Wycombe. Reading also became the first team to take points from the leaders last weekend, drawing 0-0 on the road.
Arbour Park, Stoke Road, Slough SL2 5AY

Sholing v Oxford City
Following last weekend's 6-1 win at Beaconsfield, City travel to Sholing full of confidence to face a side who have lost their last three games. It's a reverse of the opening day fixture that saw Oxford come from behind twice to finally snatch the points with an 80th minute Ellie White winner.
The Mortgage Decisions Stadium, SO19 9PW

Woodley United v Winchester City Flyers
Winchester have won their last three games in all competitions and have moved up to third spot in the table. Not ideal visitors for a Woodley side who need to kickstart their season and are still looking for their first win. Three points could lift United out of the drop zone, so there's plenty of incentive.
UofR Bulmershe Pavilion, RG5 3HE

Wycombe Wanderers v Beaconsfield Town
Having dropped points for the first time this season last Sunday, Wycombe will be looking to get back to winning ways in this local derby. Beaconsfield will be desperate not to repeat last Sunday's disastrous opening 10 minutes, in which they found themselves three goals down. They will also be aware that Wycombe won 7-1 at Holloways Park on the opening day of the season.
18i78 Stadium, SL1 8JG
Picture
Farnborough v Chesham United Development
Chesham have won their last two league games, scoring twelve goals in the process. They currently sit in fourth spot, but have played more games than the teams above them. Farnborough, currently 9th, have played just five in the league, six fewer then United.
The Easy As HGV Stadium, Farnborough, GU14 8UD

Larkspur Rovers v Denham United
Denham take their 100% league record to Larkspur, who have a 100% home league record. Something has to give in this one. Rovers will be looking to get some revenge for their 6-0 defeat at The Den earlier in the season. Rovers top scorer, Savana Fearon, has scored in every game since that defeat in October.
Lord Halsbury Playing Field, Priors Farm Lane, Northolt, UB5 5FE

Oxford City Development v Kidlington Youth
Two out of form sides go head to head. Kidlington are still searching for their first league victory of the season. City have lost their last six. They did, however, win 4-2 at Yarnton Road back in September, despite Poppy Ellis seeing red.
Venue: Oxford City Development

Penn & Tylers Green v Abingdon United Development
After losing their last two league games, At Denham and at home to Slough, Penn are looking to restart their season against an Abingdon team that still sit top of the league, albeit having played three more then second-placed Denham. United are unbeaten in their last four in all competitions.
French School Meadow, Elm Road, Penn HP10 8LG

Tilehurst Panthers v Slough Town
Third placed Tilehurst have lost just one in their last six. However, that was a 3-2 reversal at Slough, who came back from behind twice to beat Panthers. Town have played four more games than Tilehurst, but they can go level on points with their hosts should they win.
The Rivermoor, Scours Lane, Reading, RG30 6AY
Picture
AFC Stoneham v AFC Varsity
The Purps had won two on the bounce before their last two games were postponed. They still sit in second place, two points adrift of Farnham. Varsity, who won 4-3 at Shaftesbury last time out and currently sit third from bottom, could climb to within two points of Stoneham with a win, in a very congested table. Stoneham have the advantage of a 3-0 win at Hatches Farm back in September.
Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh SO16 2PA

Bournemouth Sports Reserves v Bemerton Heath Harlequins
Both of these teams have won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three. However, both could also climb as high as second if results went their way on Sunday. This is their first meeting of the season.
Chapel Gate, East Parley, BH23 6BL

Farnham Town v Guernsey
When Farnham won 6-2 at Victoria Avenue a month ago, they became the first team to beat the Green Lionesses in the league. Since then, Bursledon have also won in Guernsey. Farnham's record is formidable this season. Still defending a 100% record, they've scored 34 goals in their 6 league outings. This match also sees the league's two highest scorers going head to head. Iesha Swaby has 18 in 10 games for Town. Calleigh Hedley has an even better average, with 16 in 8 games.
Memorial Ground, Farnham, GU9 7DY

Havant & Waterlooville v Andover New Street
New Street have hit a mini-blip in their last two games, losing to Stoneham i the league and Larkspur in the League Cup. However, they are still sitting third and only two points off top spot. Havant are two places and three points below them but so have a game in hand. The reverse fixture finished 3-0 to The Hawks and features Chelsie Hay's last goal for the club before her move to Winchester.
Westleigh Park, Havant PO9 5TH

Wimborne Town v Bursledon
Both teams had excellent away wins in their last outing. Wimborne were 3-2 winners at Bemerton Heath Harlequins, whilst Bursledon won 4-1 at Guernsey. The reverse fixture, in September, was won 4-1 by Bursledon, who came from behind after Sheree Bell-Jack had given The Magpies the lead. Two Rosina Folkes strikes helped The Dons to victory.

This Sunday a combination of reasons saw me heading back down the M40 for a return visit to Holloways Park. My first train of thought had been to ensure I picked a game on an artificial pitch. The rain was still coming down hard at lunchtime and I didn't want to risk a long journey only to find the game called off. Secondly, the game between Beaconsfield Town and Oxford City had the potential to be a good game between two teams that were, on paper, quite evenly matched. Thirdly, this weekend was also a big charity weekend for Beaconsfield. Both their men's game on Saturday, and women's on Sunday were focused on the OneCan Food Bank & Trust (www.onecantrust.org.uk). The club had declared that, instead of paying an admission fee, supporters were encouraged to donate tinned food to the trust, helping local families in need during the Christmas period. A fantastic gesture from the club.
My trip down the M40 made me realise that the two service stations I had to pass were Oxford and Beaconsfield. Could this fixture be known as the Service Station Derby?
As always when visiting Holloways Park, it's always great to catch up with Beaconsfield's Press Officer Craig Anderson. Nice to have a chat about women's football in general, and about today's game. Despite being busy on match days, Craig always has time for a chat.
Thankfully the rain, which had been torrential on the journey down, began to ease off prior to kick-off, although the artificial surface was definitely going to be slick and the ball was going to fly off the surface at every bounce.

Picture
Having dropped off a bag of tins on my way in, my charity deeds for the day were done. However, it seems that no-one told the Beaconsfield players that charity ended at the entrance, and they proceeded to gift their visitors a three goal lead inside the opening 10 minutes.
The game was under three minutes old when Grace Craven slid a ball between full-back and central defender, to set Ellie White on her way towards goal. The striker was closed down before she could get a strike away, but the loose ball fell into the path of Lucy White who, without breaking stride, deftly set the ball over Liv Sieradzka from the corner of the penalty area. 0-1.
A minute later the visitors were two up, and it was another through ball into the space behind their defence that was the undoing. Ellie White bust clear on the right before sending over the perfect cross to Yasmin Edwards, who stroked the al home from 6 yards. 0-2.
In a breathless start to the game, Beaconsfield immediately tried to hit back. Nicole Nedd's ball across the face of goal found Henna Hussain, but her effort was narrowly wide. That miss proved even more costly three minutes later when Lucy White got free on the right and delivered a dangerous ball across the six-yard box. Ruby Harris, tracking back, tried to clear but was unfortunate to see her sliced effort loop into her own net. Only nine minutes on the clock and Oxford already 0-3 to the good.
To be fair, The Rams did mange to steady the ship a little after this point. Once again the Nedd Hussain partnership almost paid off, with the latter's attempt only narrowly wide of the mark. At the other end, Edwards came close again before, just before the half-hour, Alix Todd's vicious strike came back off the underside of the bar and away to safety. That pretty much summed up Beaconsfield's day so far. Three-nil down but, on another day, they could have been level. I had jokingly said to Craig that it could even end 6-6 today. The way things were going, I was beginning to think I should have placed a bet on it.
Edwards again came close for Oxford, heading just wide from a corner, but for a short period after that, the clear-cut chances dried up.
As we headed towards the break Katie Riddington, who had been quiet by her standards, sent a delightful curling effort skimming over Gerrow's bar, with the keeper beaten. Then, as the Rams pressed to get a foothold, Hussain brushed off a challenge, beat another defender and sent a 20-yarder just over.
The home side did, however, finally get on the scoresheet with a minute or so remaining. Alix Todd sent over a right-wing corner which was met by Henna Hussain, who headed into the far corner. 1-3

HT Beaconsfield Town 1 Oxford City 3. A blistering start from The Hoops, aided by some generosity from Beaconsfield. Both teams could easily have had a couple more goals, but could that late goal back be a building block for The Rams?

Picture
Any hopes that Beaconsfield had about getting back into the game were pretty much shot down as early as the fifth minute of the second half. Yasmin Edwards was quick to pounce on a fumble from Liv Sieradzka, nudging the ball back into the path of Kate Parsons, who drilled the ball into an empty net from the edge of the box. 1-4
Beaconsfield were not about to throw the towel in though, and Hannah Gerrow had to be quick and brave on 54 minutes, throwing herself at the feet of Katie Riddington to make the block. Yasmin Edwards then had a header scrambled off the Beaconsfield line before, with twenty minutes to go, Ellie White got in on the goalscoring act for the visitors. Turing sharply on the edge of the box, she let fly. Sieradzka got to the shot but the wet ball squirmed through her grasp and trickled over the line. 1-5
Despite being comfortably in front, Gerrow was determined to not allow Beaconsfield any glimpse of a way back. With just over ten to go, she was once more called upon to race off her line and throw herself at the feet of an attacker, this timer Freya Harris, to ensure the four goal lead remained intact.
Almost on the stroke of full-time, Henna Hussain was sent clear but delayed a little too long, and was closed down. Then, to add icing to the cake, deep into added time Yasmin Edwards broke clear on the left before driving into the box and calmly sliding the ball past Sieradzka. 1-6

FT Beaconsfield Town 1 Oxford City 6. Tree in each half for City, who were devasting going forward today. They played an attacking line-up from the start, and it paid dividends. Beaconsfield were rocked by the early onslaught but did have chances of their own. The difference was the clinical finishing that Oxford showed. The win lifts The Hoops into seventh spot, just three points behind Beaconsfield with two games in hand.
Coming up next week, Beaconsfield face a very local derby, just down the road at Burnham FC, as they take on leaders Wycombe Wanderers, looking to improve on their opening day defeat to The Chairgirls. City, meanwhile, travel to the cost to face ninth-placed Sholing, who they beat 3-2 in the reverse fixture on the opening day.

Many games were called off again this weekend but one match that went ahead was AFC Portchester's FA Cup tie with Worthing. BotP had the pleasure of watching the game as the Royals made club history by carrying off a 4-1 defeat of their higher-ranked opponents, in front of a record crowd. Portchester will now face WSL 2 side Ipswich Town in the Round Three.
Across the leagues only two games survived. Oxford City came from behind to defeat Badshot Lea in a ten-goal extravaganza, whilst i the South, Wimborne Town also came from behind to beat Bournemouth. There were League Cup wins for  Larkspur, Reading, Beaconsfield and Winchester City Flyers.

This week's edition is a little sparse and with a slight change of format, due to some business travel and a general lack of time.

An extraordinary game at Marsh Lane where Oxford City and Badshot Lea managed to clock up 10 goals between them. Back came Badshot Lea, who were level within 10 minutes of the restart. However, Edwards and White both completed hat-tricks to send the Baggies home defeated. Charlotte Keenan with two, and Michelle Quinn, hit the goals for Badshot Lea.

The Royals took control of this tie early on. Mia Parker put them ahead in the 5th minute. Keren Banduka made it two after 17 minutes and, four minutes after that, Parker had them three to the good. Tara Woodward pulled one back on the half-hour, but a Rachel Southby red card and a Georgia Hayes goal in the 73rd minute, sealed a victory for the visitors.

Slough Town 0-0(p3-4) Beaconsfield Town

Winchester City Flyers 2-1 Farnborough
Flyers edges past a determined Farnborough side but had to survive a late red card for Shayne Prasad. Chelsie Hay put Winchester in front after 16 minutes but Farnborough were level just past the hour, through top scorer Ellie Stalley. Sian Wylie restored the home side's lead with seven minutes to go, but they were almost immediately reduced to ten after Prasad's 84th minute dismissal. PREMIER LEAGUE

Wycombe Wanderers v Reading
Reading travel to Burnham looking to become the first team to take anything from a league meeting with Wycombe this season. Reading are fresh from a resounding League Cup win at Penn & Tylers Green, although they were beaten in their last league game, at Winchester. Three Wycombe players, Kayla Potter, Chloe Melton and Jess Watkins are in double figures for the season already.
i8i78 Stadium, SL1 8JG

Badshot Lea v Winchester City Flyers
With Southampton not having a league match this weekend, Winchester could go second with a win in this game. The Baggies were beaten at Oxford last Sunday, in a crazy 10-goal game. However, they've scored three times in both of their last two games. City won the reverse fixture 4-1 back in September.
Operatix Community Ground, GU10 4PF

Beaconsfield Town v Oxford City
City make the short trip down the M40 still looking for their first away win of the season. However, The Rams are on a run of four straight wins in all competitions. They too can leapfrog Southampton with a win.
Holloways Park, HP9 2SE

Woodley United v Sholing
Two out of form sides going head to head. No win in four for Sholing, no win in the league for Woodley. Woodley could lift themselves off the bottom with a win, depending on Badshot Lea's result. Sholing will want a repeat of the reverse fixture, which they won 5-1 back in early September.
UofR Bulmershe Pavilion, RG5 3HE

DIVISION ONE NORTH

Chesham United Development v Kidlington Youth
The Greens travel to Chiltern Hills Academy still searching for their first win of the season. Conversely, Chesham's first win of the season came in the reverse fixture, when they won 5-1 at Yarnton Road
Chiltern Hills Academy, HP5 2RG

Denham United v Penn & Tylers Green
Penn return to league action after a run of cup games, and it's a tough one as they travel to The Den to face a Denham side still defending a 100% league record. United are four points adrift of Abingdon, at the top, but have four game sin hand on the leaders. Penn have played just four in the league and will be looking to climb the table with their games in hand.
The Den, UB9 4DW

Tilehurst Panthers v Larkspur Rovers
There's only one place and three points between third-placed Panthers and Larkspur. However, Rovers have a game in hand on their Sunday hosts. Both teams have in-form strikers in their ranks. Savana Fearon has already scored 12 in 8 games for Rovers, whilst Leah Why has 10 in 7 games for Tilehurst.
Scours Lane, RG30 6AY

DIVISION ONE SOUTH

Bemerton Heath Harlequins v Wimborne Town
The Magpies go into this one full of confidence after three wins on the spin. Quins, however, have won both of their two home league outings this season and have taken seven points from the last nine available. Harlequins also won 6-3 at Wimborne in September despite being two down inside 12 minutes.
Shrewton Recreation Ground, SP3 4JU

Bournemouth Sports Reserves v AFC Stoneham
Despite currently sitting fourth, Sports are yet to register a win at Chapel Gate in any competition this season. Stoneham come into the game with some confidence, having won their last two league games and also have the advantage of a 2-1 home defeat of Sports on the opening day, in the reverse fixture.
Chapel Gate, BH23 6BL

Guernsey v Bursledon
The Dons travel to the Channel Islands sitting just one place above the drop zone, but with a five point buffer. The Green Lionesses have started SoReg life well, suffering just one league defeat so far. These two sides drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture. Bursledon are yet to register a maximum on the road this season.
Victoria Avenue, GY2 4BB

Shaftesbury v AFC Varsity
Still looking for their first league points, Shaftesbury did at least manage to take the lead in their last game, before succumbing to Bournemouth Sports. Varsity let a two goal lead slip at Wimborne last time out and will be looking for their first league win since the end of September. They did beat Shaftesbury 3-0 on the opening day.
Coppice Street, SP7 8PD

LEAGUE CUP

Abingdon United Development v Fleet Town
Current Division One North leaders, Abingdon, will be looking forward to testing themselves against Premier League opposition. United beat Tilehurst 2-0 to get to this stage. Fleet were 4-3 winners in their penalty shootout with Wimborne, after drawing 1-1 in normal time.
The Northcourt, OX14 1PL

Southampton Women v AFC Portchester
A proper Southampton/Portsmouth south coast derby. Southampton have only lost one in their last seven across all competitions, a run that includes the 2-2 home draw with Portchester in the league. Portchy will, no doubt, still be buzzing after their FA Cup victory over Worthing. However, they may have one eye on the visit of Ipswich Town in two weeks.
Test Park Sports Ground, SO16 9QZ

Farnham Town v Ascot United Reserves
Taking a break from their 100% league record, Farnham turn their attention to the League Cup and a meeting with an Ascot side who have not played in almost a month. That was a morale boosting 3-1 win at Oxford City, their first league win of the season. United's defence will need to be on their guard against Farnham's Iesha Swaby, who has already hit 18 goals this season.
